Actually when you are writing a blog post that can be lengthy and with images as well the only option to save it is the save button that publishes it immediately.
Should be nice to have a way to save it as ''draft'' and only when you are satisfied with the layout and the content you really publish it.12 votes
This is a pretty good idea. Until we get around to implementing such a feature, you can actually “delete” it (we don’t really delete, just hide). Once you are happy with it you can “Show” it again. Deleted/Hidden content is only viewable by the author and admins, others just see a message that the content is hidden with a reason when available.
A spell check button or allowing in-browser spell check engines to detect misspellings in the text fields (especially blog posts).24 votes
There seems to be an issue with session state maintenance.9 votes
Thank you, we are looking into this. If anyone is able to reproduce a situation please share as that will greatly help us in identifying and resolving this issue.
I would like to be able to edit or delete a comment that I have posted. My apologies if this is already implemented but I did not see a way to do it.2 votes
When you leave a comment, you should see an “edit” link by that post. However, there is no delete comment feature at this time (could get complicated if there are several comments and/or replies). Is edit alone good enough here?
Upvoting an answer is great, but often times there are comments further down in the thread that should be acknowledged. I'd like to see a way to vote on comments in threads with something either similar to the upvoting system for answers or by just being able to give them a star or something similar.13 votes
I like the idea of a “this helped me” counter for comments. Voting doesn’t work so good here because votes change the display order so the highest voted are on top and comments need to remain a linear fix-ordered list.
The concern here is that there are several ways to vote, rank and rate things already and adding another could increase the complexity of the site overall. That said, doing something here is a good idea so we will do more research to determine what would work best.
As opposed to a PM feature, keep my question public but let me invite specific members of the community to come and answer it. This way I can ask specific people questions, but everyone still benefits from the question and answer.21 votes
Improve Search option in itninja. it used to work like a google search1 vote
We actually introduced our new search because there were so many complaints about the Google search. What about the way it does not work like Google would you like to see addressed?
a lot of software informations we found on appdeploy.com is no longer on itninja.com. Example: Rockworks151 vote
I just answered a Q and my answer ended up somewhere in the middle of the flow of answers, and not at the end. This makes it difficult to follow the flow of the answers provided and looks like mine is an earlier (dismissed) answer and not the latest one.1 vote
We are indeed planning to address this. As answers are sorted by rating it is not reliable that your new entry would always appear on the bottom. We intend to provide a success message and highlight the new entry in the near future so this is less confusing. Thank you!
Text formats in Deployment Tip Summary are very "large"? Think this looks a bit messy.
For example see summary of FileZilla 3. Just used predefined styles.
Maybe there is a little bit of adjustment possible, to give it a better view :)
Thank you!2 votes
It appears large because you used styles like Heading 1 and Heading 2 and these were translated by the styles for the page. The default font is small, but when using these header styles it can cause unexpected results. We are looking to limit the choices here so reduce this kind of unexpected styling. Thanks!
I post alot of stuff and well I don't "not care" about what i've done I feel that activity feeds by myself clog up my activity feed so I can't view other peoples submission. A button to toggle viewing updates by oneself would be an great tool and make the activity feed a worth while place to visit.1 vote
Thank you. This was part of our original design but was ultimately not built. It is still on our list to do and we’ll let you know when we’ve started working on it.
While there's an awesome reward for reaching Black Belt, there's nothing for reaching grandmaster in IT Ninja. It would be great to see a form of recognition for earning this achievement on IT Ninja. The reward should be something presentable in any sysadmin's workspace, promote IT Ninja as a valuable resource, and be the envy of other items in the office.7 votes
I think we are lucky to have the budget to develop, host, support and manage this site already. The fact that we can send prizes all over the world is amazing. While I like the idea of adding something for the Grandmaster level, a physical prize may not be possible. Grandmaster was added so that those reaching black-belt still had something to shoot for. Maybe we should add a “Super-Grandmaster” level!
Rename the ALL tab to Active Questions or just Active. It's good to see the answered question but a pain to scroll through all. Just seeing the active ones in their own tab makes it easier and an Answered Tab would let people look at the solution to educate themselves if they come across it.3 votes
While we don’t currently have a way to view just those questions that are answered in a tab, we do have a “Unanswered” tab which I think meets your need for a list of questions that are active at http://www.itninja.com/question/unanswered
Was this overlooked or were you thinking of something more?
It is difficult to follow threads now for me, as it always shows the orginal poster. This is ok, but I would also like to see the last poster, as well as the date/time of last post. This helps me in knowing if something has been responded to.4 votes
Item currently in priority backlog, under consideration. We’ve designed this feature, but it got cut at last minute during last sprint.
Appdeploy used to have a post on it's homepage to display the most frequently used and/or most popular packaging tips per week or month.
This was very helpful and quick way of stumbling upon software packages that you have already deployed that you may not have know that they had been updated and require repackaging and redeployment.
It is aslo a great way to learn new skills when you see a solution to a difficult software package deployment.6 votes
We’ve got popular software listed now on the research page. Like AppDeploy it is based on all time activity and not just a week or a month. We’ll see if that is something we can work in down the road (as such I’ll keep this request in an Under Review state).
For things like city, state, country, etc.. you should have pre defined drop down selections. Having to click each one, delete the "None" contents and type in everything is a little complex. Having the predefined drop downs might be a little more easier to use.3 votes
Thank you for your suggestion. We would like to improve the usability of the profile editing as well. It may take a little while before we revamp the whole page, but we’ve started thinking about new designs and will let you know when it gets closer to being launched.
Not really sure if this is something for the feedback section, but my profile info has been saying Last Post: Never since the start...
Now I'm pretty sure that's not accurate :D Or is it just when I watch my own profile?1 vote
Definitely a bug. It says my last post was 06/28/2002! Looking into it now, thanks!
I would like the ability to view questions (both open and answered) by category, accessible from the Q&A Home.1 vote
An excellent suggestion; we are already investigating the implications of this now. Thank you!
By this I mean it would be nice to see vendor submitted information segregated from the user submitted stuff. Seeing 100 Kace blogs and articles is nice but only when I want to. It makes it difficult to find and sift through what people are asking or posting.5 votes
We are looking for an intuitive way to provide this capability. One method would be to support the exclusion of certain tags in search results (right now it is inclusive). Would love to hear any ideas members may have for a good way to do this (will likely need to be some method of tag filtering)
If there are suggested answers to a post and the original poster hasn't selected an answer or marked it answered in, say 7 days, they might get an email reminder, or be prompted upon login to review their open questions list. Hard to know what needs answers with so many not marked as answered.5 votes
It is a good idea, but as we are just beginning to implement email notifications so it could be a little while before we get to this.
For now know that anybody logged into the site may mark a question as answered (or unanswered) so the hope is that those question-answering-types like yourself will mark them answered when you think they are answered (and anyone who disagrees may undo it). The hope is that this will be more effective than encouraging those who may not care to come back to do so themselves, but we shall see.
- Don't see your idea?
