We have lots of things to fix and lots of features to implement but would love you to suggest what you feel is important to help us validate our priorities and add new ones!

  1. Custom Wiki or Repository for CIR and/or MySQL Code

Currently you can search the site for specific things and you might stumble across useful CIR or MySQL code that someone wrote along the way, but it might be better if there was a repository with a compilation of useful scripts and CIR's that others have developed along the way. Here is an example of Chucks on git: https://github.com/csteelatgburg/K1000-Database-Queries.

  2. Allow mods to ban users (even if previously approved)

A few "users" who are obviously vendors have sneaked into the site and mods should to be able to ban them to decrease bloat and remove ads disguised as help articles.

  3. Add personal website to profile

Include a location for personal websites as many of us have them. :) Thanks

Actually this is in place now. The field is at the top of the page under company and location and is labeled “URL”. We’ll look into a better label but this is the purpose of the field.

  5. Retain simple formatting in code blocks

I'd like to be able to retain simple formatting such as line breaks in code blocks. A blob of SQL/HTML/VB/etc. is much easier to read and understand if line breaks, indents, etc. are honored. No need for colors, bold, italics, fonts IMO, but layout can make a difference.

  6. Bug report: error occurs when submitting question with identical topic & tag

This happens consistently when submitting a question with, for example, the topic "Scripting." Then a question and description is entered, and below where tags are added, if the same tag is used as the topic, the error "something went wrong" occurs.

This appears to be true for any combination of topic and corresponding tag.

  8. Enable the use of quotes and other operators in search

I keep getting frustrated trying to use the search feature on ITNinja. Basic functionality like using quotes to return only results that match my exact spelling are not there. I've also noticed that if I need to use the minus operator, it actually eliminates all forms of the word I'm trying to exclude.

Example: I keep getting results including "connection" when I search for "connectivity." Well, I'm diagnosing a specific error message that I want to search for verbatim. Since adding quotes doesn't do anything, I tried "connectivity -connection" but now I don't get any results at all.

    I don't…

  9. Not able to publish blog posts

When I hit 'Save' after writing the article, it takes me to an error page. It's been happening for the past 2 days. Any idea when it would get resolved?

  11. IT Ninja and IE 11 issues

IE 11 is released long back. ITNinja site does not work well with IE 11. Please fix this as most of the organizations use IE as the default browser.

  13. Remove link from copied text

I don't like how ITNinja is adding a "see more at" link to text that I copy from the site. When I copy/paste something, I expect it to be exactly what I selected.

When ITNinja adds text to the copy/paste, it can do all sorts of nasty things, like breaking SQL code, for example. It also adds extra work every time I want to paste something I got from the site.

Sure enough, we had an email server issue which appears to have surfaced on Friday. Thanks to your letting us know, we’ve corrected the issue and are working to automate checks to prevent such a thing from happening again. Thank you!

  16. Filter to exclude any KACE related Questions / blogs etc..

I only want to help the community to answer questions / post blogs / add links... I do NOT use KACE , among the majority of the former AppDeploy community. So It should be possible to have a setting in your profile that will exclude any KACE related info .

The Beta Search is NOT what we want.

We just want to filter out anything related with KACE ( unless we own a KACE product offcourse ;-)

A site wide filter, even for one specific tag would have serious impacts on performance. However, we have provided features to help you avoid what you don’t like and even more to focus on what you do like…

The ability to include or exclude content from searches based on tags is now available: http://www.itninja.com/blog/view/avoiding-or-focusing-on-kace-materials-at-itninja

Outside of search results, you may find it beneficial to focus on what you do like by following tags to customize your activity feed and email digests.

  17. Post patches for KBoxes

This isn't necessarily specific to ITNinja, it could be done through the KACE Support page. But, I had several bugs from 5.4 that were bothering us on our K1. Eventually they hit a critical mass and I opened a support ticket. Turns out there were like 6 or 7 patches that had been released I didn't know about. Why not post these patches on ITNinja or Kace support? Even if I have to contact support to get the patches, at least post a notice that they are available and what they fix.

  18. Reminders to posters to mark things answered

If there are suggested answers to a post and the original poster hasn't selected an answer or marked it answered in, say 7 days, they might get an email reminder, or be prompted upon login to review their open questions list. Hard to know what needs answers with so many not marked as answered.

  20. Share Blog Posts/Links/Questions via Email/Twitter/Facebook

I'd really like to see the ability to click a button and share a blog post/link/or update with email, twitter, or on facebook. I've found myself wanting to send a link to my co-workers while it's easy to just post a link, I think it'd be cool to click a button and have it pop up and ready to go.

We’ve actually got this implemented now (but if you are not seeing it, perhaps not as effectively as I had liked to think). At the top right of the pages for questions and links (and at the bottom of the right sidebar for blogs) we have logo image buttons to share using Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn. The fourth share button pops up a more interactive sharing widget which even allows you to choose “show more” and see a long list of various social services with which you may wish to share.

Please let me know if you feel this is insufficient!
