Browsing the site using IE7 it is loading a number of pages up very slowly. Trying to use the Package search\drop down option is almost unusable as it is taking so long to give helpful options when you start typing
We’ve implemented several performance improvements on the back-end and implemented local and hosted caching solutions. The dynamic nature of the site makes fully leveraging caching a challenge but changes have resulted in better all-around performance which we will continue to improve upon. A lack of complaints in this area for a long time has us feeling that while we can still improve, the site is no longer seen as running slow, therefore this request is being marked as closed. Independent monitoring services rate ITNinja as average speed which we aim to improve upon over time.
I forgot to mention that I'm running IE 8 but I also have the same problem on FF 10.
I don't know how much help this will be but I jsut went to various pages listed in the pulldown menus (like ask, research, share) and for each of those pages it took 6 - 13 seconds to load each of them. On several of the pages, the page loaded in about 3 - 6 seconds but then there is a delay of some sort before you can actually use the page (like some graphic needs to be loaded before use).
Even the Share | Write a blog post takes about 2 seconds to load but then takes another 4 seconds before I get the cursor working in the User Name box.
So for me, it's virtually every page that I go to, including the Home page. I think it's systemic, not related to just a page or two.
I am located in New Hampshire - Eastern time.
Same with IE 7.x and 8.x
The whole site runs very slowly for any number of browsers I've tried. Very Very Slow. Also, finding it exceedingly difficult to research software.. Was so much easier the other way.. Tags don't seem to work welll at all.

Same with IE 8.0
The same with Opera 11.60. The textinput into the searchbox is that slow its useless. No probs with IE 9.

Is it as slow with IE8, IE9, Firefox, Chrome, and Safari as it is with IE7?
If it is only slow with an old browser, it may not be worth a lot of effort to optimize it for a browser that is almost 6 years old, has been superseded by two newer versions, and has many known compatibility and performance limitations when it comes to modern web standards...
