KACE GO

  1. Include Barcode Scanning Feature with K1000 Go App

We would like to see a barcode scanner for the K1000 GO App, which would utilize a mobile device's camera to scan a barcode - the barcode info would then pull up the inventory/asset information in the app.

We'd like to be able to type the barcode number (asset tag #) as a field in a specific Asset Type.

  5. "Add Work" from the iOS app

The iOS app does not have the option to "Add Work" to service desk tickets (only Add Comment).

  7. Allow Push Notifications for new tickets.

In addition to receiving an email, we would like the app to give push notifications for new high-priority tickets submitted by users so that the on-call technician will see the notification on their phone off hours. We were told in our demo it would do this and are now being told that only works for monitoring.

  9. Allow us to move tickets from one queue to another

Currently you can't move a ticket between queues, and our ticketing system completely relies on that (tier 1, tier 2, etc).

  11. Allow users to access K1000 Go

Allow users to access K1000 go. This app works great for admin use but I have a lot of users who would find this beneficial to be able to put in a ticket from their phone or tablet. Seems like this would be fairly easy to do. Basically restrict parts of the app to the users and grant full access to admins.

This has been implemented in our v2.0 release, now available on both app stores. Note that you need to be running K1000 v6.0 in order for this to work. This K1000 release will be available shortly.

  12. Allow custom fields based upon select queries.

We have a required custom field listing locations that gets its values using a query select statement. This field does not appear in the queue on the GO app so we are unable to create tickets. If we make the field not required, it still doesn't appear but tickets can be created.

I've attached a pdf file containing our select statement.

  15. Launch App from URL

Partially a service desk, partially a GO feature- the ability to launch the app from URL would garner more user usage of the app for mobile ticket updates. Some users use email, and a link from the service desk that launches the app helps the service desk team get better responses. http://skookum.com/blog/open-an-ios-app-from-an-email/ does a nice job of exaplining from an iOS perspective; Android isn't much different.

  18. Fix passcode lockout, review Android Life Cycle procedures

Because of the way the Android activity lifecycle works, rotating the screen resets many variables. This is something you need to take into account with the passcode. By conceptual design, if you enter the passcode incorrectly two times, you should only be able to enter it incorrectly once. With the current implementation, if you fail two times, all you need to do is rotate the screen to reset the counter.

More information on the app lifecycle can be found here: http://developer.android.com/training/basics/activity-lifecycle/index.html

  19. Fix viewing permissions for users to match website

Android application allows users to view queues that they should not be able to. This gives them access to view ticket titles, ticket numbers, and ticket queue information they should not have access to. Attempting to load the ticket gives a 403 error (pretty non-descriptive), but they shouldn't be able to get that far.
