  1. Create a native 64 bit windows client.

Running scripts on 64bit clients are limited to the 32bit environment. An example is registry keys. There is no way to access the 64bit registry hive as the kbox client only sees the wow6432node, 32bit, registry hive.

Thank you for your input. Offering both 32 and 64 bit clients would double our Windows agent QA testing time and we are sensitive to the impact of extending test times as it impacts our ability to release full-featured updates at our desired pace. A surprisingly large amount of our customers still need 32bit support today. We are going to continue monitoring this closely to determine the best time to drop 32 bit support (of course older versions of the agent would still be available once we moved to 64 bit). In the meantime, it would be helpful to know specifically what difficulties a 32bit client is causing so we might consider work-arounds in parallel with the 64bit only decision.

    • Kagent: Show icon on client machine (with info)

It would be great to have an option to show the kagent icon on the system tray on client machines (with an indicator show connected/disconnected).

If the user double clicks on it, it should show information about what managed job is scheduled and for when and what jobs were sent to it (mini history).

This would help local techs to provide better end user management/troubleshooting.

It wouldn't hurt to also provide (when double clicked on the icon) a window that shows a list of authorized apps (software library) that can be installed by the end user.

This status has apparently been incorrect for quite some time – way before I joined. My apologies for any confusion or inconvenience this has caused anyone. This is not planned for the upcoming release.

      • Progress bar on patch deployment + Summary of patching

This idea is already published. It is marked as 'Completed', but there is still no progress bar, so I decided to create a new idea, because I don't know another way to respond to the status, so it will be recognized by Kace.

I would like to see a progress bar on the client while patching for the current patching job.

I think it would be enough for example if there are 10 patches to deploy, 6 are already finished, the progress bar would show 60% finished.

Maybe it is also a good idea to see a short summary which…

        • Inventory Only Agent

Provide an agent that will return hardware, software, custom, and patch inventories but will not allow for patching, scripting or managed install distributions.

The K1000 agentless inventory now supports most server class devices, including Windows, Linux, Debian, SUSE, RHEL, Ubuntu, Fedora, and FreeBSD. It would good to know if you think that a read-only agent is still necessary given the broader support agentless has.

          • Agent Support for IPv6

Implement IPv6 at the kbox agent level. This would enable communication over MS DirectAccess technology, even if the server is still IPv4 only.

Update – This is not on the roadmap for the next release, but it remains on the priority list. Unfortunately, it was pushed down by other prioirties.

            • Ability to Specify Agent Port Traffic

Option to allow AMP functions to use other TCP/IP ports instead of just 52230. It would be nice to have the ability to manually assign an alternate agent port, or use standard internet ports 80 and 443 (secure) for agent communication outside of the network.

We are making investments in this and appreciate your patience as it is a fairly complex architectural undertaking.

              • Provide BIOS settings inventory

It would be nice to have the ability to inventory (and enforce) BIOS settings right from the KBox Appliance. Dell provides the CCTK utility to manage these features on supported systems. Having this utility integrated into the agent would give the ability to centralize management of BIOS setttings, provide compliance reports on BIOS settings and push out BIOS profiles. This would be wonderful.

                • Allow turning off software discovery on chosen machines

There are situations when certain machine should have agent installed but software dscovery is causing problems when it comes to license compliance, like file servers. Ability to turn off software discovery or at least exclude drives/folders from it would be usefull.

We’re engouraging votes from those who feel strongly that this is a valuable feature

                  • There needs to be an actual Agent for vmWare Host Servers.

Having go manually run scripts on over 50 host machines is cumbersome. It would be far less cumbersom to be ablel to push an agent to the vmWare Host Server and then never have to worry about inventories again.

We are investigating using agentless technology to get VMware Host level inventory

                    • Have agent update K1000 when IP changes

I have a problem where employees with laptops cannot get software from the User Console Library because the IP address from their last inventory (up to 4 hours ago) does not match the IP the K1000 web interface is seeing.

For example I have about 50 scripts in the library to automate the installation of printers in Boston, New York, LA, and Dallas. I have smart labels configured so that if you check in on the Boston, NY, LA, or Dallas subnets you get that site label. I then limit all the scripts for the printers in each site to…

                      • Bypass UAC while running scripts

This is a follow up ticket to continue tracking an add on thread to a ticket which is now completed:
                        http://kace.uservoice.com/forums/82699-k1000/suggestions/1637531-uac-compatibility

                        Bypass UAC while running scripts:
Running scripts as System does not involve UAC. If running scripts as a User, UAC applies. That case is still under consideration for a future release.

We plan on implementing a new way to determine end user ownership of devices. Rather than rely on a transient characteristic like IP address (or a NAT’d address, for that matter), there will be a join introduced to match computers with end users.

                          • Allow mac agent installer to have preconfigured server name, as with Windows!

You can pre-configure the server name for the Windows agent in any number of ways. I don't see why the Mac agent can't be pre-configured in all those ways. Repackaging the agent, as described by support is not easy for people who don't create Mac software.

To be clear, repackage the Mac ampagent installer so that, either:
                            1. The server can be specified by renaming the .pkg
                            2. The server can be specified by using a fixed DNS name kbox

#2 implies that once it finds kbox in the dns search path, the agent understands to get the canonical FQDN…

                                  • Add agent support for Hyper-V Server

Need to be able to do inventory/patching on Microsoft Hyper-V servers. The feed is available from Microsoft, so it shouldn't be that much harder than regular Windows systems.

                                    • inventory - have it show # of memory slots on computers & what is in each slot

inventory - have it show # of memory slots on computers & what is in each slot. Have the agent gather that info and report it too "Devices" under "Inventory Information".
Other programs do this, surprised Kace doesn't. This is very helpful when upgrading memory on computers.

Thank you for your suggestion. This has been added to the feature request list. We encourage others to vote as we use this input for prioritizing our release plans.

                                      • Ability to turn off the login hook in the KBox Mac agent

The Mac KBox 1000 agent appears to use a LoginHook that triggers /Library/KBOXAgent/Home/bin/kagentlogonscript to run. We'd like the ability to disable the login hook (preferably from the server end) as we'd like to set our own LoginHook to manage our own set of login settings.

Thank you for your input. We are investigating this and encourage others to vote for this feature/functionality if they think it would be useful. A feature request is in the backlog but other priorities have taken precedence so far.

                                        • Provide AMPctl 'status' action on UNIX/Linux init script

Provide at minimum, additional init script action of 'status' for AMPctl (on all Linux variants). Presently, AMPctl only supports "start", "stop", and "restart". The 'status' action should provide return code of 0 as confirmation that the service is running and anything else as a failure.

                                          Current Usage: ./AMPctl {start|stop|restart}

                                          Desired Usage: ./AMPctl {start|stop|restart|status}

Technically, according to Linux Standard Base Core Specification 4.1 (http://refspecs.linuxbase.org/LSB_4.1.0/LSB-Core-generic/LSB-Core-generic/iniscrptact.html).

"The start, stop, restart, force-reload, and status actions shall be supported by all init scripts; the reload and the try-restart actions are optional."

Note that systemd (new linux standard for system startup) adopted by RH…
