  1. Support for Dell hardware (SNMP) and transfer to the inventory

Since almost every SNMP tool is able to access the Dell enterprise MIB i really wonder why THE Dell tool does not support it's own systems. (K1000 can only access the standard MIB!). Dell would only have to add the Dell enterprise MIB, which should be no effort at all.

What I want in the end:
Scan for SNMP devices like Switches, Printers, etc... and add them to the inventory automatically.
Essential information: Device name, IP, Model, Service Tag

Otherwise you would have to enter the information by hand. Especially the service tag is needed to get the Dell service…

Update: You are likely aware that we added the ability for you to add custom SNMP OID GETs in v6.3. We also have established a tag on ITNinja (and added a “how to” there) regarding SNMP customization with the expectation that our Ninjas will request and share information on how to get just the info they need, I hope this helps. In the following release, we will have new fields in which to map the collected data in addition to the ones with which are a already familiar.

    • We need the KACE to monitor iDrace cards for hardware failures and to track where they are.

With lots of Dell servers, and iDrac cards, how does the Kace keep track of them.
So far it seems it can only see them via snmp which is very limited.

We are investigating options for expanding iDrac support (including adding SNMP trap support). We encourage others to vote as we use this input for prioritizing our release plans.

      • MIB file upload for use with SNMP monitoring/inventory.

The Webinar on the K1000 v6.3 features showed SNMP monitoring of devices using OIDs entered by hand. Having to locate, identify, test, then hand enter an OID is not convenient and very time consuming. Most devices that use SNMP have MIBs files available detailing their use of OIDs.

I want to be able to import a MIB file, apply this to one or more devices for SNMP monitoring and/or inventory, then choose from the labels found in the MIB for the OIDs rather than having to enter the OID I want to use manually.

It would be even nicer if…

The introduction of custom OID input is a second step in the process of supporting SNMP enabled devices. In the next release, we will provide new fields to map in the info you want to collect as opposed to only “computer” type objects. Note further that ITNinja now has an SNMP tag that we are hoping will get Ninjas requesting and sharing the MIB/OID info so everyone can collect specifically what they need. And, I uploaded a primer on how to find the OIDs you need (usually the hardest part). We encourage others to vote as your input greatly affects our planning. Thanks again for your input.

        • Implement vPro KVM and Management in K1000

Is it possible for Kace to implement in the K1000 a internal tool to use vPro KVM and the vPro machine in general like the other competitor do?(Symantec, Landesk...)

This will not be in scope for the next release as other priorities push it down the list. We are investigating this as a potential roadmap item for a subsequent release. We encourage others to vote as your input greatly affects our prioritization during release planning.

          • Firewall Port Listing

It would be beneficial to see open ports on client machines. Especially for reporting reasons.

Update, This will not be in the next release, but I am optimistic for a future relase – depending on where it falls on the priority list at during the next rounds of planning sessions. Thank you for your patience.

            • Monitor VMHosts with omsa agent installed does not seem possible accept via SNMP that is native to ESXI

ESXI with OMSA client installed - there should be a way to pull the OMSA information directly into the Kace applicance.

I really don't want to install anything on the ESXI side accept maybe the OMSA to communicate with the hardware.

              • multiple snmp ip scan

Allow for more than one SNMP community string in an IP Inventory Scan.

we have thousands of devices and not all have the same SNMP community string, it would be nice to allow us to specify a list of community strings to attempt during the IP Inventory Scan. Simmilar to how we can specify multiple ports to scan.

                • SSH RSA keys are needed to let the Kace connect to secured linux OS servers.

Linux SSH access is restricted to connects that have Public/Private SSH keys setup. No password access to ssh is allowed.
There should be a way to generate an RSA key on the Kace and share it with user IDs on the linux OS devices so Kace can log in and montor them.
The only way today for KACE to access them is if we downgrade our sshd_config to allow password access - a very bad idea security wise.

                  • No Bulk Method to match Chromebook with Users

We need the ability to bulk match a Chromebook User to User in Kace 1000. Currently, it can be done but you have to select user in assets and manual select which user uses the Chromebook. This can be cumbersome when you have a lot of users.

The number of available agentless licences are not reported- the quantity in the K1000 simply says "Unlimited". Actual numbers of Agentless licenses available should be able to be viewed by admins.
