  1. Managed Installations - Search

I think that the search needs improvement. I'd like to be able to search by Execution.

  2. Allow device exclusion from Managed Install

When you check "All Devices" for a Managed Install, it would be nice if you could exclude certain devices.

For example, we have users which use Adobe Pro, however Adobe Reader is a managed install which will deploy to every computer as every user needs it. However, it overrides Adobe Pro as the default PDF application. So being able to exclude our users which use Adobe Pro would be a nice feature.

  3. Use separate credentials for downloading and installing applications from an alternate location

The current setup allows you to specify what credentials to use to download an installation package from an alternate location. This is helpful for downloading the packages, however, KACE then uses those credentials to attempt to install the package.

The issue is least privileged access. I could easily have a user account setup to only have access to read files on a file share, and then just have KACE install using the system user or a local admin user account. Unfortunately, the current setup requires not only read access to the file share, but also full admin rights on every…

  4. Allow User Downloads to use a Type of "Task Chain"

When installing ArcGIS there are two pieces to accomplish. First is to install the application. The second is to copy the database configuration files to the requesting user's profile. Currently I do this via two scripts which are included in the User Downloads area. The first runs as a local administrator. The second runs as the logged-on user.

I can create a Task Chain that puts the two scripts together, but I can't create a user download with the type "Task Chain" and the name of the task chain I used doesn't show up when clicking the drop-down for Scripts.

  6. Upgrade software version based on a device's Inventory

It would be helpful if there was a way to have the KACE SMA "upgrade" software based on a device's most recent Inventory. For example, if the Inventory runs and detects an older version of a piece of software that was already uploaded to the SMA (for use in Scripting or Managed Installs), the SMA then performs a managed install to upgrade that software to the uploaded (latest) version on the device.

  7. No need to setup OS-Versions

May it be possible for future-versions, that under software-deployment, we will get the option to set the Operating-Systems and subversions via checkbox? and not making the way back to "software inventory and reenable all Windows 10-subversions?

  8. Add PKG support without needing to zip the file

If a PKG file is associated with a Managed Installation, the page will report "This software will not be installed. In my tests, PKG files actually will attempt to install so this message is erroneous and confusing. However, the official recommendation is still to place PKG files in a ZIP file when using them for Managed Installs. If there is still some issue with uploading "bare" PKG files in use with Managed Installations, please resolve. Or, if there is actually not an issue with that (perhaps this only affected old mac OS versions?) then update the web ui messaging and…

  9. Archive Managed Installs

Provide the ability to archive Managed Installs.
This would help clean up your Managed Install list without deleting installs that may or may not be wanted later.

  10. Bulk Enable/Disable Managed Installations using Choose Action menu in Distribution/Managed Installations

It would be very helpful if managed installations/uninstallations could be enabled/disabled in bulk using the Choose Action dropdown menu.

  11. Multiple version uninstall

We should have the ability to uninstall multiple versions of a program from Managed Installations. When a program becomes EOL like Java and soon Adobe Flash Player, we should be able to uninstall all versions of the program or even uninstall all versions that are less than specified version. Needing to set it to uninstall one version, wait for the number of computers it is installed on to reach zero and then move on to the next version is a big hassle when you had multiple versions approved of a program.

  12. Allow Managed Deployments to use cloud storage as alternative location

The idea here would be to use cloud storage to offload bandwidth utilization in managed installations. For instance say you have a large deployment package like ArcGIS. Having several users pull these installs at once could heavily impact VPN bandwidth.

Allowing google, microsoft OneDrive, or a similar cloud service to host deployment packages would help offload the bandwidth hit on your VPN.

If the office ISP is different from the users ISP this may also mitigate issues those two ISPs have maintaining stable and effective connections between networks.

  13. Please remove the "All devices" option or made it harder to activate in Managed Install

Admin can easily and accidentally deploy a software to all PCs. Why not have a box and you need to type ALL-DEVICES to enable it if that is what you really want. When a PC momentarily freeze and admin is not paying attention, that button is easily clicked on.

  14. Managed Installations notes

Would like to see a "Notes" field to describe the Managed Installation and any particulars for the Install (who created it, why it was created, etc.)

  15. User settable time options for MI/Script

As an admin, I would like to the ability to prompt my end users when they get a prompt for a script or MI to install software, say a Windows 10 build update, that they could be given an option to select a time that they could run it, say at 5 PM when they leave for the day.

In scripting, you could push your jobs out to the end users, and in the script options, give an option to check a box for "Allow User Settable Schedule'. Maybe give options for Run in an hour, run at next shutdown,…

  16. Add new version to software catalog items for managed installs

Managed installs using a software catalog payload instead of inventory software have the huge advantage, that the MI will not be triggered if a newer version is already installed. However attaching an installer package to a SW catalog item requires the exact version to be installed and detected on at least one computer. I would like to have the ability to add a version to an existing sw catalog entry to be able to upload the installer package for an MI.
Also, when a version where a package has been attached previously is no longer discovered, it is not possible…

  17. Monitoring software installs for users

Monitoring downloads for users not just IT distributers. There needs to be a means of those requesting downloads to be able to see that a download of software is in progress (other than saying it has been requested, which can sometimes last weeks). Some clear indicator of more specific percentage status is needed so the user knows that there is genuine progress happening. This would be incredibly useful and would also help take some pressure off of the IT department needing to look into this which special access permissions for each instance.
