Execute scripts in groups of targets at a time
I have a script to deploy software using a smart label which contains several hundred targets. I would like to run this script one time but have the option of executing the task in groups of n targets at a time to avoid overwhelming our network with the payload if it were to execute concurrently.

Task Chains
It would be nice if on the Scripts, Patch Schedule, and other pages, we could see if those items are already included in a Task Chain by some sort of "flag" in the listing. If multiple people are using your SMA, it's possible they might modify a script or patch job not realising that it is part of an existing Task Chain.

Accurate execution status for Linux Online Shell Scripts
Currently as long as the script is pushed succesfully to the managed device, the server considers this a successful run. It would be very useful if the server was able to determine when a script exited with errors so we can see which particular machines failed to execute correctly so we can perform manual remediation.

Ability to Patch Script without listing label or device.
When saving a Patch Script, you must specify a device label or device name. For testing purposes, there should be a way to save the Patch Script and then later add label or device.

Run a script in run now status with the logged in person running the script to find out who does what.
today for check who executed a script we have to do this:
- Settings › History › Object History > view by : Script and check the execution time and compare it with the "run now" status in : Scripting › Run Now Status.then check who is the user who performed the task.
Would it be possible to have the user directly execute the script in the execution status of the script.

Rearrange tasks in scripting
It would be nice to be able to rearrange tasks in a script. For instance, if a script evolves over time to remove newer programs, it would be nice to add extra tasks and then move them up to the location where they would need to be.

Run a script from the Device / Inventory page
I often have to run a script on a group on a device that I am currently reviewing in either:
--The Device screen
--The summary screen filtered by label
--In my Advanced Search windowThis would be extremely useful to be able to either have an option to run the script from the device window or from the summary list by selecting a list of devices.

Enable Task Chains to be run from or like Scripts Run Now
We use Task Chains for complex multi step scripts and they work great but I would like to be able to security trim them by role so a user can execute a task chain without being able to edit the task chain.Basically the run now script functionality but select a task chain instead.

Kernel Extension (KEXT) Approval
Please give us the ability to approve kernel extensions (KEXT) for macOS, via KACE. Since 10.13, High Sierra, KEXT approvals have gotten more strict. Now, I can't push software completely silently to my users. They have to approve/press ok when it pops up on their screen that something was blocked from running (me installing software).

duplicate script
Currently, when you click Duplicate within a script, the user is sent back to the list of Scripts. It would be nice if you can go right into the Duplicated script and continue editing the script. This behavior exists when a user Duplicates a report.

Make "Name:" field wider in Task Chain Tasks, and add Notes Field
When adding a "Scripts" Tasks in "Distribution/Task Chains", the field name after creating the task is often too short to see the full name of the task.
For example, I've got numerous scripts named "2018-Mac - Install blah blah blah", and if I chain three or ten of those together, all I can see at a glance is I've got ten scripts named "2018-Mac - Insta....".
Make the field wider so I can see more of the name.
Also, add a Notes field to each task; a year from now I'll have no idea why I'm copying a Mac user's…

Increase character limit for Initial Message in Scripting
It would be nice if we could get an increased character limit for the Initial Message window that's used to notify users before an Online Script is ran. It is currently much shorter than most message windows that can be created throughout the SMA.

Apply labels to scripts for organizational purpose
My organization has a large library of scripts so we need to organize them by various categories.
Since labels feature already exists on K1000, maybe you can modify it so we can organize our scripts by applying various labels we create manually.
For example, we can label all the scripts we have for finance department computers, hr department computers etc.

Ability to filter out Disabled Scripts
It would be nice to be able to filter out all Disabled scripts when viewing them on the main "Scripts" page. I can't sort my scripts alphabetically because then all of the Enabled and Disabled scripts get mixed up. I can't sort my scripts by Status because all of the Disabled ones will be on top. The only way I can do it now is to do a reverse sort on the Status field and then have to go through my scripts in reverse alphabetical order.

Enhancements to Task Chain
Now that you have task chains in, a very nice feature, I can think of a couple things that would make it better. The ability to chain two tasks with different groups of servers. Currently the entire chain has to execute against a single server. Executing each task against different servers would be very useful when patching load balanced groups so you could run taskA against groupA, Task B against groupB and so one. Would also be useful with reboot scripts when servers need to reboot in a certain order. Another feature that would be useful is the ability to…

Apply or remove manual labels as part of a script
Add a 'New Step' option to apply a manual label, and another to remove a manual label.
This would allow you to apply or remove different labels depending how you set up the script - so if part of a task was successful, or if remediation fails.
One example would be if you had a script on a schedule set to run on a number of devices under a manual label. If the script is successful it could remove the device off the label so the next time the script runs it would not target that device.16 votes
