  1. Express Code

As Dell Support now require Express code with their phone support it would be ideal to see if possible to get the Express code details for a machine and record this on KACE 1100.
    Handy..

  2. Print asset labels

The ability to print asset labels would be a great addition to the asset portion.

It would allow you to take fields from the asset management system already and create a label with it to add to the devices.

Also being able to turn some of the field into a barcode for the label would also be great.

  3. Show mapped network drives in computer inventory

Would love to have a way to see the mapped network drives for each system in the inventory. We use the inventory when it comes time to replace computer systems and right now we have to call individuals to find out what mapped network drives they have and what mapped network printers they have. This requires us to explain in a lot of cases where to go to look and the network path. It is something we would use on a daily basis.

This was added to the development backlog. We encourage others to vote as we use this input for prioritizing our release plans.

  4. Reason for reboot on patching for Windows Server Shutdown Event Tracker

It would be excellent if the KACE Agent would log the reason for the reboot on Windows Server machines. Even if it just told the Shutdown event tracker that the KACE Agent rebooted, it would prevent the popup when I log into the server and would make my event log pretty. I believe this could be done very easily if the KACE agent calls shutdown.exe on the Windows machines.

  5. Custom Inventory - add support for brackets to allow ANDs and ORs in the order I need them

Currently using both ANDs and ORs in the same custom inventory rule is unsupported according to the documentation. I was told that they are evaluated from left to right rather than using the normal rules of precedence. This would be particularly handy when you are trying to detect a program whose file might be in more than one location (especially c:\program files\ and c:\program files (x86)).

  6. Log for deleted inventory

It would be really helpful to create a log for all asset records that get deleted. The log should include if the record was deleted by the MIA deletion script versus by a user. If it was a user, list the user that deleted the record.

  7. Asset Rules Engine

I would like to have a basic rules engine for the Asset portion of the tool so that we can update the Asset fields using the rules. For examples:

If computer is a member of LDAP Label "HR" then apply Department value "HR"

If computer is a member of Label "London" then apply Location Value "London"

If the last login user was "Wayne Smith" apply the user value "Wayne Smith"

If the last inventory was not within the last 30 days then set a custom asset status filed as "Missing"

This could be built in the existing smart label /…

  8. linking related asset

Is it possible to make it so that when you link one asset to another, that each asset shows up as a related asset under each other? Right now it seems that a related asset only show up under the asset that you linked it to. In order to see each asset linked on both sides you need to link the assets from both sides. This can become cumbersome to have to link the assets twice.

  9. Loaner Pool for checking out any Asset item

There should be a section for a "Loaner Pool" or some such, that shows all assets that are available to be checked out whether they are a laptop, projector, software license, tablet or any other item. Users should be able to access this section, see what is listed and which items are available or when they will become available.

  10. Capture networking related info

Would be nice to have the K1100 capture all of an end-point's neworking related information on checkin - default gateway, DHCP server, DNS servers. This would be very useful in determining if you had some sort of rogue network services provider on your network - or if there were systems that needed to be looked at after an infrastructure change.

  11. Inventory - collect all IPs bound to a network interface

In the Inventory, the network interfaces for a Windows machine only lists the "primary" IP address. This is confusing because inventory run on Linux machines list every IP address bound to each interface. The inventory should be configured to list all IP addresses bound to the network interface on Windows; not just the primary IP address.

  12. Inventory KBOX

The KBOX, real or virtual is a computer and an asset. It should have option of including itself in the computer inventory automatically.

  13. Management of network interfaces

In a high security network it is imperative that network interfaces (e.g. Wireless, Mobile, Bluetooth, etc.) be easily managed (e.g. disabled) to ensure that no internet or other network connection be made while connected to the secure network. In other words the only trusted network connection will be the primary wired network interface.
It would be great if one can easily have all other network connections disabled while connected to the primary network and then re-enabled when a workstation is removed from the protected network.
