Check all sessions before restarting the machine
When a patch management deploy schedule has a reboot option enabled with the property "Automatically Reboot When No One Is Logged In" set to true, the Dell KACE agent should check all sessions on the system, not just the console session. If someone logs-in to their desktop via RDP and then disconnects, the agent (as it works now) will automatically restart the PC because it is only checking the console session.

End-user ability to minimize the patching box that comes up.
Currently, the user can drag the box off the screen to get rid of it, but it is still there if there are giving a presentation, for example. It should be fairly easy to make it so the end-user can minimize the box.

Add the ability to associate a script to a Patch Schedule
I would love to have the ability to run a script as part of a patch schedule and have it run before the patching begins.
The example I have in mind would be for patching BIOS on computers using Bitlocker. I could have a separate patch schedule for BIOS patching only and have a script set to run prior to patching that would suspend bitlocker and enable it after the next reboot. With it being integrated with the patch schedule, I would not have to worry about the bitlocker disable script running needlessly.
I am doing something similar with scripts,…

"Lock" a patch label
Our current patching procedure involves running a test job of newly released patches from our smart labels on the Wed. following Patch Tues. We run this test job on approx. 10 IT lab PC’s + the PC’s of users who use critical applications. Once the test job and application testing is complete, we would like a way to lock the patch job to prevent additional patches from being added to the Smart Labels. Currently, patches that are downloaded to the K1000 subsequent to our testing and prior to the scheduled company-wide patch deployment can be dynamically added to the Smart…

Email notification upon Patch Schedule Completion
As many users do, i assume that they have patch schedules set up.. Detect or Deploy only. or even full detect and deploy.. Set up to run at specific times.
Currently, when you go into that patch schedule, you can see down at the bottom, the machines it will be doing (based on your selection), with Amount needing to be patching, that were patched, etc.. and the STATUS.
Currently i have created a report, which i now manually run the next morning, to give me this information. I want to see WHAT was done automatically, without having to log into…

reboot
When using the reboot option, although the timer does appear on the desktop, the countdown timer doesn't decrement. If the countdown timer is set to 30 minutes, the timers remains at 30 minutes until reboot. The timer doesn't move. It's doing it in the background but the users don't see the timer decrementing and it confuses the users as they do not know how much time they have left before it'll reboot. I'd like it to show the timer counting down.

Let remote users download patches from microsoft
Company with about 500 machines off which > 400 work from remote locations often.
When a machine is not connected to the company network, it would download it's microsoft updates directly from microsoft. When inside the company network it would download it's updates from the replication shares.

Start patching process from the client (for servers)
On my servers I want to start patching completely manual so it would be great if we had an patching option that starts the patching only when an (admin-)user on the client interactively clicks a "Patch now!"-button in a request window.
Patches could have been downloaded before to the client so that we have something like the "Download-automatically-but-install-manually"-Option in WSUS.

Fix the smart label wizard in Dell Updates so that it doesn't reset the criteria fields after each test/create.
Currently, whenever you Test or Create a smart label of Dell Updates, it resets the non-Catalog fields of the wizard. If you're not paying attention, you could test a label, get the correct output and then create it incorrectly due to these fields being reset to default.

The patch progress window doesn't always close
KACE Patching, "Patching is in progress. This window will close automatically upon completion. Please wait..." Nice feature, but frequently becomes a permanent desktop fixture. After the patch successfully installs, this window never goes away. Every time I've seen it, it's been with Adobe Flash Player updates, but that could be coincidence since they happen so frequently.

Support for Slovak language in Patch Management
K1000 currently does not support Slovak language versions of Windows, therefore patching is not possible. It would be nice to have this feature.

Smart Label patches on type/category
Let it be possible to also create patch lables on the criteria WHICH category it belongs to.
Example: Smart Label which only contains Service Packs for Windows 7.
MS is using this "form" in their WSUS solution. See screenshot.20 votes -
Update BIOS that has a password
In an enterprise environment it is common practice to have a BIOS password to stop users accidentally/deliberately accessing the BIOS and making changes that would affect the operation of the computer.
It appears that Distribution/Dell Updates cannot update a BIOS if it has a password set. This means that I have to go to ~1000 computers and upgrade the BIOS manually which is an extreme waste of time when KACE was purchased to do that sort of stuff automatically and it can't update a Dell computer's BIOS.

As previously announced, we adopted a new Dell Updates framework starting in the KACE Systems Management Appliance (SMA) release 11.1. This change was triggered by Dell’s plan to end of life the framework previously used by KACE. This new framework developed by Dell is supposed to bring additional capabilities as it matures. We are keeping a close eye on these incremental improvements made by Dell and are hopeful that things like mass passing of passwords will come in time to develop against.

Snapshot a Hyper-V Machine before Patching
Before Patching a Hyper-V Machine wouldn't it be awesome if the K1000 could have the perform a snapshot first, so if it fails you could just revert in a matter of a few minutes.

Patch Labels
Add an additional option or change the smart label searches to include ONLY those patches it detects from the system. When I create a smart label for a specific OS and not to include superseded, it displays hundreds of patches most of which are not installed on my systems. It would increase admin efficiency if we don't have to invalidate each patch that doesn't matter.

Ability to stop running patches with one click
It would be nice to be able to click a “stop” button on the KBOX to stop a currently running patch schedule

Ability to Export Patches in Native .MSU format
Currently patches can only be exported in the .kpkg format. Having the ability to export in the native Microsoft format will allow one to patch a system that is either having issues with the KBOX client, or another server in your enviornment that is not managed by the KBOX.

Patching Notification
Just spit balling a thought that just ran through my head:
What if Lumension / Kace issued a patching notice / update to admins who register for it? It could be a weekly email thing. In it Lumension could outline newly released patches (MS, et al.) and the projected release dates from Lumension down to our Kboxes. As admins we would know that certain patches we are looking for are in the pipeline and their ETA dates. Now, as admins, we are no longer in the dark wondering where our patches may be. It would keep emails or support tickets…

Patch Settings for Online Source should show info about patches.tgz
Should at least have the file size. But would also be nice if a summary of the patches was available.
Since the process of moving new patches to the offline kbox is manual, it would be nice to provide information about whether it needs to be done.7 votes -
Initiate patch installation to local machine from patch detail page
From the adminui/patch.php page, add a button to force a detect/deploy for the patch on the current machine. This would be useful for trouble-shooting failed patch deployments when only a few machines have trouble.
