  1. Ability to see if device is online / offline from software detail page

From the software detail page, we usually see which machines need to be brought up to the latest version, it would be helpful if we could see if the machine is online/offline from this page. I know on the far right there is something that shows you when it was last inventoried, but depending how many labels that device has applied to it, this goes offscreen. Also the ability to do device actions from this page (ping, bomgar jump, etc) would also greatly make our jobs easier..

  2. Nutanix AHV / KVM deployment support

Please expand deployment support for new/modern enterprise ready hypervisors such as Nutanix AHV and KVM. KVM image would also be compatible with Proxmox.

We are excited to announce that version 12.0 of the KACE Systems Management Appliance (SMA) is almost ready for the Beta/Release Candidate program. This release will contain initial Nutanix support for the SMA. Although this is not the specific UserVoice feature you requested, you have made a request related to Nutanix in the past; so we want to invite you to check it out. If you are interested in participating in the Beta/Release Candidate program, simply send an email with “Nutanix Beta” in the subject header to: kace_beta@quest.com and you will be contacted shortly with details. Thank you in advance for your kind consideration!

  3. Enhancement of Kace (Automating ticketing Systems)

I wish that the ticketing system of Kace be provided with the option of setting ticketing section to send automated responses to tickets submitted under certain category based on certain hours like after hours or weekends. Then follow up with responses to user that originated the ticket and send replies to IT Technicians. At the end, if the ticket is not closed, it should generate a reminder intermittently as in say every 4hours or so.

  4. FreeBSD 11.1 is no longer supported as of September 30, 2018

Some companies identify EOL operating system releases as potential vulnerability. Currently, SMA version 9.0.270 is running on FreeBSD Version: 11.1-RELEASE-p10. Will there be an upcoming release of KACE that will run on a supported version of FreeBSD (11.2 or 12.0)?

  5. Filtering Log File/Live View of Patching

I like to look at log files while an operation is in process. Sure, I can TRUST the Kace SMA that it is doing what it is supposed to be doing with patches, but I'd like to be able to see step-by-step where it is in the process. I can get an idea in the Access log within the SMA; however it would be nice to see a live log file specific to patching rather than seeing everything that's going on.

In the inventory of a computer please make the "Assigned To" name as a link to the user or let the information popup like in an service desk ticket. The attached screenshot shows the popup.

  7. Update "Enable SNMP READ access" to use SNMPv3

KACE SMA currently only supports SNMP read access with a community string. For security reasons we would like an upgrade to v3 to support a credentialed login.

  8. Broaden the scope of the User API

I would like to see more actions available to the users endpoint of the API. The ability to create, modify, delete, and audit logons for user accounts.

One use case - in an LDAP scenario, you might want to trim thousands of old users who lo longer exist in the LDAP environment (university)

Another use case - you want a user with necessary permissions to retrieve a user ID from the API in order to submit a ticket as that other user.

  9. Virtualisation Tools

It'll be great to have virtualisation's tools (like VMware Tools et Windows Integration Services).
It'ss help administration for stopping/starting the SDA and SMA appliance controled by the hypervisor when maintenance are only a standalone hypervisor.

  11. basic health check option for appliance prior to upgrading

A health check scan option next to the upgrade appliance that can be ran to do a quick scan on the appliance to make sure there are plenty of resources available to do an upgrade (for the next available version). If scan fails, a list of resources taxing the appliance will show so a customer would know what they need to free up or suspend prior to performing an upgrade.

  12. Appliance "License Information" needs to be able to tell which license key is still valid.

This is in regards to the APPLIANCE license key. The license key that you apply when going through the EULA screen during initial virtual appliance set up, for example. The license key allows you to manage X amount of client computers under the Inventory list. Currently, in order to obtain support for the appliance with latest updates, technical support, etc... you must have a valid license key applied to the appliance.

    Example of the problem:
    - Purchase license key that allow 500 nodes to be managed under Inventory. Expires December 2018. Licensing department provides a license key for this via…

  13. Fix the SMTP test when using Anonymous authentication

We user IP authentication instead of user name/password for our SMTP server. I get an error message whenever I try to send a test email from the SMTP settings in the KACE appliance.

The error message is: "Invalid email address format for the username"

This should be fixed to allow a blank username and password to work with the test.

  14. Application proxy setting for KACE Agent.

In my environment(s) we have developers who set HTTPPROXY & HTTPSPROXY as system environment variables so that they can run their applications. With these set, the KACE agent will not check in correctly.

I propose that we have application specific proxy settings available for the KACE agent application, whereby should no proxy settings be configured on the application, all other possible locations for setting a proxy (eg. IE, netsh, Env) are ignored and a direct connection is attempted unless otherwise specified.

  15. K1000 should support VirtIO drivers

With the growing popularity of virtualization hypervisors that require VirtIO drives, Quest should start supporting that. Nutanix is another example of an environment where VirtIO drivers are required. Everything else we have can handle it, K1000 is the only outlier.

  16. Ability to set Manager to Unassigned in User Detail

Manager field was recently added to the User Detail screen. After manually assigning a Manager to my user record, I am now unable to change it back to 'Unassigned'. It does not appear in the drop-down list.

  18. Orgs had the option to lockdown number of agents (node count purchased) per Org

If account purchased 1000 agent nodes to be spread across 4 Orgs, there's nothing built into the appliance where they can lock down the maximum number of nodes to be used per Orgs and it always has to be regulated. If a node number could be locked down by the IT admin, there wouldn't need to be a need to keep managing that aspect of the Org among other Orgs to make sure the maximum number is enforced.

This would also be good for agentless node count. Thirdly, the ability to report on agent/agentless node counts used/available per Org and…

  19. I would like to see added support for KVM hypervisor (see ticket 4149427) on virtual appliances

I would like to see added support for KVM hypervisor (see ticket 4149427) on virtual appliances. This would require support for additional block storage device types, specifically virtio drivers.

I was able (after messing with the install ISO's /etc/fstab entries) to get it to install and it's working great!

Could NOT import hyper-v nor vmware appliances due to the block device type.

    Import pre-configured appliance
Configure block device as VirtIO, and NIC as Intel E1000
Insert FreeBSD installation DVD into available CDROM
Set Boot Order such that the CDROM is booted first
After the VM boots to a prompt asking…

  20. A warning if a discontinued version is used

If you login as administrative user you should get the info that the version you are using is discontinued.
Currently you get a message that a new version is avaiable if it is enabled in the DW.
But there is no info for all appliances out there.
So there are many really old appliances out there.
