  1. Allow backup dump of the Kace database for another server to serve the database

We are seeing that sometimes using the Kace appliance to do the reports can be very slow, and when we have reports running on the appliance, this can make the appliance go even slower.

I would like a way to export the whole database from the appliance so another server or even another Kace appliance, but basically I want to be able to have another server or appliance be used do the reporting instead of using my production Kace appliance.

  3. Display K1000 License Number

I was told by Dell Kace support that a new requirement is to provide the technician with the Dell Kace license number for support. He also told me that this cannot be retrieved from the device. In light of the high turnover rate of Administrator, this information should be viewable in the "About K1000" window with the serial number. It would save a lot of time and arguing with technical support.

Thank you for your suggestion. This has been added to the feature request list. We encourage others to vote as we use this input for prioritizing our release plans.

  4. Allow for the import of Active Directory groups as LDAP Smart Labels.

This would easily allow for granular label management for users and devices - especially if the groups have already been set up in AD. Additionally, this could potentially allow for some cross over and AD management via KACE and vice versa - as users and computers could be managed via AD in relation to their group membership and therefore their label association.

  5. Support for 2 NICs, each on separate networks

I need to place my KACE on a DMZ, with 1 NIC on a "private" network and 1 NIC on a "public" network. I do not have the ability to do port forwarding or NAT. I need to have it support local assets and remote.

  6. Exceptions List for MIA

The ability to create a label or other list of exceptions for MIA computers would allow us to account for machines that are off-site more often than not, but still have them appear in our Computer Inventory. We have loaner laptops that are primarily used for client presentations / events and as such, are often off the grid for longer than 30 or 60 days.

  7. import labels

Allow labels to be imported from csv. This would make arbitrary (non-smart) labelling much easier.

  9. Improve File System layout

Currently there are 2 main partitions, \kbox and \kbackup.

When patches, software or other items fill the disk the system stops working correctly. The OS and downloadable content should be on separate partitions to prevent this from happening.

You can even assign a specific size for each area. I.E.
    \Kbox - basic OS
    \kbakcup - backups
    \Software - 100 GB for Software installations
    \Patches - 100 GB for Patches

Thus when we fill up patches, everything else will still work. Then we can work on freeing space for patches.

This would also help in the request for more feedback on…

  10. advanced Apache settings

It would be really helpful if there can be setting controls for advanced Apache features. Specifically, the ability to set HTTP 302 redirects. Our need is based on our KBox currently has an internal URL. We are implementing SSL with a wildcard certificate on the box so it can be accessible to more users. We want to force SSL only traffic. While we can make the DNS change so both addresses are valid, users who visit https://kbox will get a browser certificate warning. If KBox enabled Apache 302 redirect, the browser would automatically go to https://kbox.domain.com and the browser would…

  11. On certain networks KBOX may be subjected to security scans and requirements. Quicker responses to updates for the underlying KBOX systems

On certain networks KBOX may be subjected to security scans and requirements. Quicker responses to updates for the underlying KBOX systems are necessary. This puts the system at risk for being forced offline.

  12. Delete from MIA only if license count is reached

We currently have MIA Inventory set to delete if the device hasn't checked in in over 50 days. We do this to stay under our license count. I think it would be really beneficial to have an extra option that only deletes MIA computers if we have reached or are near the license count.
