  1. reboot

When using the reboot option, although the timer does appear on the desktop, the countdown timer doesn't decrement. If the countdown timer is set to 30 minutes, the timers remains at 30 minutes until reboot. The timer doesn't move. It's doing it in the background but the users don't see the timer decrementing and it confuses the users as they do not know how much time they have left before it'll reboot. I'd like it to show the timer counting down.

Thank you for your input. We are investigating this and encourage others to vote for this feature/functionality if they think it would be useful

  3. K1000 Software Library for Mac & Auto-Filtering

Any end-users would like to be empowered to use K1000 software library for installing any software on either Windows or Mac system without required admin privilege. I found that K1000 software library supports only Windows. K1000 software library needs to support Mac, too.

In addition, the auto filter depending on what machine they are running needs to be added to K1000 software library. For example, end-user is logged onto Mac system, then, K1000 software library needs to provide only Mac apps by auto-filtering.

  4. SSL settings should allow requesting SAN certificates (Subject Alternative Names)

In the CSR request process a feature should be added to allow SAN certificates. This would help clients access the K1000 with a variety of internal and external host names without certificate errors.

  5. Improve the process of linking purchased software licenses to the Software Catalog

Linking licenses to the software catalog in Kace is an excruciating process:
    1. The description from the vendor and the name in the software catalog are never the same
    2. The software catalog does not seem to provide the manufacturers part number
    3. You can only link licenses to the catalog if the software has been discovered (used in inventory). This forces you to monitor each license and its first use to make sure that you link it. Only this way can you ensure that your licensing picture is correct.
    4. You can only export the titles of the software…

  6. Allow turning off software discovery on chosen machines

There are situations when certain machine should have agent installed but software dscovery is causing problems when it comes to license compliance, like file servers. Ability to turn off software discovery or at least exclude drives/folders from it would be usefull.

We’re engouraging votes from those who feel strongly that this is a valuable feature

  7. Support for multiple active directory domains

Being able to connect to more than one active directory for single sign on would be an amazing feature. I have a setup where I have multiple active directory forests and MUST keep them separate and disconnected. I use multiple orgs and am enjoying it, but without being able to join to each active directory with single sign on, I am afraid user adoption of the portal will be minimal and not worth the effort. Please add this as soon as possible.

  9. Allow processes that are contained within a single ticket

Current processes are great for times when there discrete individuals with discrete tasks. I'd like processes (or whole separate feature) that allow process-like stages (approvals, default comments, changed fields, new due dates, etc.) but where all this occurs in a single ticket.

An example use case would be something routine that can't be finished in a single interaction. So maybe the help desk gets the ticket, maybe uses a canned "Hey thanks for your ticket, x will happen now", the process state changes to update owner, due date, auto-filled comments relevant for step B of the process, etc.. Then once…

  10. Progress bar on patch deployment + Summary of patching

This idea is already published. It is marked as 'Completed', but there is still no progress bar, so I decided to create a new idea, because I don't know another way to respond to the status, so it will be recognized by Kace.

I would like to see a progress bar on the client while patching for the current patching job.

I think it would be enough for example if there are 10 patches to deploy, 6 are already finished, the progress bar would show 60% finished.

Maybe it is also a good idea to see a short summary which…

  11. Support for 2 NICs, each on separate networks

I need to place my KACE on a DMZ, with 1 NIC on a "private" network and 1 NIC on a "public" network. I do not have the ability to do port forwarding or NAT. I need to have it support local assets and remote.

  12. Ignored IP Addresses be a set range in General Settings

Our environment (academic) has many different layers of networking. And since my KBOX reaides on a different subnet than the rest of my clients, I have to put fill out the Ignore Client IP Address Setting. But I have to do this for each computer's IP address (or AP) out there.

I propose we have a range of IPs we can submit to ignore

    e.g. - 0.0.0.0, 127.0.0.1, 192.168.1.0/24

  13. Show TO DO in Replication Shares

On the K1000 on 5.5 the To Do row was removed which - when you have over 100 replication shares means we cannot see if we have any issues with the replication shares. This option was around in 5.4 please can you bring it back urgently!

We are looking into this. The reason it was eliminated was that it was trying to retrieve the information in real-time and the page never rendered where there many replication policies. Stay tuned – hoping to have an answer in the coming month as to where this falls in our priority list.

  14. Add a Ninite-like library of commonly used software

Ninite provides a consistent interface for installing some of our most commonly used free software. Software like Firefox, Flash, Java, etc. can be installed with the same consistent switches every time, and Ninite takes care of making sure it has the most up-to-date version. That way, instead of having to prepare fresh Java packages every few days we could simply choose to keep that software up to date.

This kind of functionality would go a long way toward making KACE easy to get up and running to manage essential software.

This is under consideration but not planned for the next release, Please continue voting if you’d like to see this feature prioritized for a future release.

  15. Add integration to outlook calendar for time scheduled tickets

We are a finance company and alot of our tickets are time sensitive , so when creating tickets it would be nice if we can create a time sensitive ticket, and it will add it to our outlook calendar and who ever you add in the cc and the creator.

  16. Wake on Lan to be Not Dependent on ARP Cache

Would like the K1000's Wake-On-Lan implementation to function more like a program called Spiceworks. The appliance currently dependent on the ARP cache. KACE WOL is dependent on the ARP cache of the network gateway device (i.e. router) to determine where to send the Wake-On-Lan packets to. The concern is if a machine is turned off for an extended amount of time (e.g. days), the ARP cache would be cleared on his network gateway devices, and the K1000 won't be able to wake up the device.

  17. HTML Forms to capture user input

The ability to create HTML Forms to capture user input in a controlled manner with appropriate controls and that it allows for validation.

Something similar to InfoPath Forms but at a basic level that integrates nicely with K1000 Service Desk

The ability to do this in a knowledge base article and in a ticket would be nice

The submission of this form could then trigger the creation of a new ticket or trigger a ticket process and email appropriate users.

  18. Pop up notification that another technician has a ticket opened

One annoyance that we have had so far with Kace compared to our previuos Help Desk system (TrackIt) is that when a new ticket comes in, multiple people will start looking at it. Without any of them knowing someone else is working on it, you end up with 2 or more people contacting the same user about the same issue. It would be nice if there was some sort of pop up or something on the screen when you opened a ticket, that someone else already has it open. Something like "Joe smith is currently viewing this ticket". Then I…

  19. There needs to be an actual Agent for vmWare Host Servers.

Having go manually run scripts on over 50 host machines is cumbersome. It would be far less cumbersom to be ablel to push an agent to the vmWare Host Server and then never have to worry about inventories again.
