Seems like this is going nowhere, but honestly this is a completely different software category.

Is this still being though about? We have found another product that will do this for software license monitoring. I would love to have this tie into all the work and history that we have in the K1

This could also help those of us that have smaller departments and a larger office space if we could map out the data drops/jack numbers at each desk in the event a jack or port needs to be troubleshot.

I think most organizations would benefit from having a floor plan and being able to tie assets and people to locations for easy finding. An really recent example where this would be beneficial to my team is a new team member has just joined the organization and he needs to quickly be able to locate a requestor as tickets get assigned to him. Being able to click the requestor or asset name and see it on a map would be awesome. Our workstations and rooms are already labeled with identifiers, so it should be a straight forward project once supported by the Kace interface.

I love this idea. We use maps for Meraki's and Ubiquiti devices, and being able to map end-user devices would be great. For us, it would allow a visual way to see what each user has assigned to them, and where the equipment is. (IE - tagged PC, Monitors, peripherals, etc.. at a desk)...

I would suggest a PNG with SVG similar to the way PaperCut maps printers.(http://www.papercut.com/products/ng/manual/ch-web-print.html - Bottom of the page)

I agree with Sasha. Start basic with png's. Ubiquity's UniFi software works like Meraki. It uses Google maps or a uploaded image and drag and drop items linked to inventory.

meraki has been doing it with their wifi heatmap interface for years... One doesn't need to be able to 'contrust' a floor map, just import a png/whatever, and place dots that correspond to assets. Just go with a lean approach; give us the very basics and we'll give feedback

Im glad to see Kace is now looking into this feature. It would be a great asset to the k1000 applicance.

This would be a good feature. Would need a high resolution picture to use to zoom into. Also would be a good feature is the icons are connected to assets and show information when hovering over icon.

this would be good, but what would be better is if you could assign desk numbers, or office locations to the asset and then they show on the map

It would be great too if we could move assets to different locations by dragging them to rooms on the map and have it update the asset details.

Think this would be brilliant for troubleshooting and keeping a check on your assets a location
