User Portal- Progress bar on software download/installation
There should be a progress bar while user downloading / installing the software package from the user portal

This is now available in version 7.0, along with a number of additional improvements to the user console. You can view more details here – https://support.quest.com/k1000-systems-management-appliance/kb/215631

This is not completed in version 7. If it also not completed in version 8 please reset the status of this idea, so it will be reviewed. The votes show that many people would like to have that feature.

This says it was release with v7 but the KB article no longer exists. Is this available with v8 and how do you enable it?
thanks

Looks like it didn't make the latest release... Is this still planned Ken?

YES! We would also like this, we use silent installs and a delay/popup/progress bar would be great.

it would be useful to allow the user to see directly if the software is already installed on their computer in the library of the user console

If not a progress bar, which would be great, at least have the status Update to to reflect the Download is in Progress, the Download is complete, the installation has started and the installation is complete. At bare minimum the portal should report the Status indicating the Software install was successful or not.
As well I would be Ideal if the portal would Identify which computer the installation was requested for. -

Definitely definitely want to see this!

Yes, this is a must-have feature. The progress messages that you get with a Managed Install would be nice. Obviously I wouldn't need a snooze option since the user is starting the install themselves.
But "Download has started" and "Install complete" messages would be awesome. I am currently doing this with a vbscript message box called from a batch file. -

Was just discussing this with a co-worker. Would be a great feature.

Same thing with a utility that turns off the keyboard and mouse while a script is running or a managed software item is uninstalling/installing. It should be optional however as locking the keyboard and mouse are not always necessary.

This could probably be implemented at the agent level easier than on the web UI. A simple pop-up message (like we can already do for scripts and patches) would suffice.

A progress bar would keep staff from rebooting the machines in the middle of an istall. This is happeneing due to the techs not seeing ANY indication as to what the profgress is. If it is a large install, they get frustrated and reboot. This causes wasted time, effort and more importantly, customer support.

I agree with all the other people out here, currently we work around this issue by having 2 installation bat files in the zip for the program, during Service Desk installation we execute MSI's for example using /qb so users see a basic progress bar.

Hi,
I am responsible for all new and hotswap equipment deploying at my current place of employment. That being said, it is extremely helpful to have a visual tool to tell rather if an update(s) or install(s) is completed or not rather than having to guess if it is successfully deployed. I have ran into instances where I have issued multiple PC’s to techs for deployment and was later noticed by our clients that certain software was not properly installed or not working because of premature shut down. - Paul -

Most people dont use software library feature because there is no progress bar. Please add this feature as early as possible so its more user friendly.

Thank you all for your comments regarding the download progress bar feature request. Please understand that, while we strive to address many of your requests, some may take longer than others, or may be prioritized lower than more critical features. We appreciate your input and ask that you use reasonable and professional language when posting suggestions & comments on the user boards.

I found exceptionally ARROGANT that apparently 3.5 YEARS after this feature was first requested KACE still does not even think they should post a response...
