Merge computers
Assets and Inventory tend to have duplicate computers for different reasons. Reports can tell you the name of the duplicates but the ability to Merge the computer by Host name, Mac Address or Bios SN would be helpful.

It would be extremely important to have the function of merging devices that are duplicated. This will allow us to take better control of the devices.

Sometimes we don't catch duplicate machines until a long time afterwards and it would be nice to be able to just updated the registry to reflect the original ID and then merge the history created in the later kace ID back into the original, thus preserving a full history of that machine.

Agree. It's not always possible to preserve the KUID every time a computer is reimaged and reassigned (we don't have a K2000 for this task). Before I spend time populating custom asset fields and importing detailed device information into a record, I'd like to know that I won't have to manually export/import the data later when a duplicate computer is created. Maybe this feature already exists? It's been 3 years since this request was posted, so I can't imagine that it's still a problem.

We tend to end up with duplicates when we refresh a machine, upgrade the O/S. Etc. We rename the machines in the process -> duplicate machines.
It would be nice to have a history somehow. Perhaps a link on the curent inventory to the previous inventory that can allow you to track the changes.
