Add Hard Disk Drive model to computer inventory detail
It would be very helpful if we could determine the hard drive model installed in our PC's without having to manually search.

This is under consideration but not planned for the next release, Please continue voting if you’d like to see this feature prioritized for a future release.

You can use a Custom Inventory Rule:
ShellCommandTextReturn(%windir%\SysNative\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\powershell.exe -NoLogo -NonInteractive -NoProfile -Command "Get-PhysicalDisk | Select FriendlyName, MediaType, BusType | fl")

When going to add the hard disk drive model to the computer inventory details, then insert proper details and plug proper buses.

Please add this feature with the ability to track changes. Many businesses require that a hard drive be tracked from first use to destruction. If the K1000 is truly an asset management appliance it should be able to do this without using custom inventory fields that only show the most recent data and can't show a history.

This idea has been in STARTED status for 2 years. What's the latest? We currently use a custom inventory rule to collect this data with all of the results being in a single field. Ideally, we'd like this to be native functionality to aid in reporting.

Yes, this is a huge hole in hardware info. Please add this!

Agreed, this needs to be implemented sooner rather than later. Being able to report on this would be helpful in determining failure rates for specific drive models.
