Please correct Apple & Microsoft "System Name" discrepancy
As it happens, there is a discrepancy between how Kace manages Apple and Microsoft "System Names:"
On a Windows machine, the "System Name" which Kace pulls in is truly the "System Name" on the device itself. This is really a computer-friendly hostname and any human-readable names are relegated to the "Description" field of the device.
HOWEVER, on an Apple machine, the "System Name" that Kace pulls down is actually the Mac's human-readable "Computer Name." The Mac's true system name is actually the HostName (or actually, in most cases, the LocalHostName). These true system names do not seem to appear anywhere in the inventoried information for Apple systems and, as an admin, I consider these to be very important pieces of information.
Truely, Kace's "System Name" should show a Mac's HostName and Kace's "Description" should show Mac's ComputerName.
I've long attributed this failure to the wahoos at Dell who didn't really understand Apple. But now that Kace is in more capable hands, I really would like to see Apple computers’ proper information displayed.
For reference, open terminal on a Mac and type:
scutil --get ComputerName
scutil --get LocalHostName
scutil --get HostName
Thank you very much for your consideration.

I've been further informed that Quest is NOT, in fact, owned by Dell anymore. Did you know that Dell has not corrected this on their website? Either way, please better support Apple! ;-)

I just found out that Quest is still owned by Dell. So, sorry about the "wahoos" line. But seriously, can you please better support Apple?
Thanks.
