  1. add a run now option for managed installations

Currently only scripts have a run now option. Would be great to have one for Managed Installations instead having to run inventory on machines to immediately start the installs.

  2. Native Powershell Integration

The ability to use Powershell more natively within the KBOX appliance.

A quick example: I would like to push out three installs before the desktop loads but would like to use Powershell to do it since it has more power and flexibility than a batch script. Although I can run the Powershell script it calls it first as if from a command line which then makes the KBOX client think the install is done so it then continues to the desktop, which I would not like it to do.

It would be nice to be able to specify the Powershell…

  3. Increase max zip file upload size from 2GB

New software is requiring zip files to be greater than the 2GB upload limit for the KBox 1000. This maximum size needs to be increased.

  4. Live status screen of patching and software deployment jobs.

It would be very helpful to have a status screen for running patching and software deployment jobs, as there is for scripting jobs in the 'Run now status' tab. As it is now, for example, you need to click on the patching job just executed, scroll down to the bottom, click on 'show all' scrooll down again and then refresh the screen to get any status. That isn't terribly efficient.

Both LANDesk and Shavlik already have this functionality, particularly Shavlik, where you can drill down and very detailed information on the status of each patch or computer, during the deployment.…

In 6.3, there is a new screen that will provide you with an overview of your patching jobs. You will be able to see the number of devices as they move through different states (pending, downloading, executing, rebooting, paused, succeeded, Failed, Offline)

For Managed Installs, that is a bit more difficult in that our implementation acts a “desired state”. So, the MI will kick off only when the end point is missing the desired software and will send the package multiple times to the device if the software has been manually uninstalled. That said, look for a unified view of all payload and status sometime in the future.

  5. List Windows 10 OS as a single OS instead of separating by build number

Currently, every new "version" of Windows 10, by whatever identifier KACE is using, shows up as a "different operating system" for purposes of determining which OS to install software on. E.g. the Software Detail for Foocorp Widget lists "Supported Operating Systems" of Win7, Win7 x64, Win8, etc. - and then three separate instances of "Windows 10 Enterprise x64" differentiated by build number, according to KACE Support.

The effect is that with every new build of Win10, all of our software installs break as it's a "new OS" not listed as supported in the software record. Not to mention that pretty…

  6. Improve Mac Notifications

Mac notifications are horrendous and intrusive. Please make them more like the Windows notifications.

We are ensuring that there is parity between the two interfaces as part of 6.0 (available first half of 2014).

  7. Search LABEL from middle of string

Under Managed Install, Scripts, where is need select LABEL, It is not possible search label from middle of string, only way is from beginning of label name.
Have you plan to improve search of labels?

  8. Secure the Packages Folder Immediately

All Help Desk Ticket Attachments and Software Managed Installs are stored in a publicly accessible folder (http://kbox.yourdomain.com/packages/1234/installer.exe or http://kbox.yourdomain.com/packages/hd_attachments/1234/image.png). This is a huge potential security flaw and likely a major software licensing violation (since you are in effect providing a public redistribution of licensed software). There are some significant management benefits to exposing your KBOX to the Internet however this issue represents a substantial undisclosed problem even if it is limited to the internal WAN/LAN.

I did open a support ticket on this issue back in August and was referred to this website as if this were a…

  9. Improve "Distribution" interface's terminology.

Please re-word "Limit Deployment To Labels" to "Deploy to Labels".

Please re-word "Limit Deployment To Listed Machines" to "Deploy To Listed Machines".

Currently, it might imply both must be true (i.e. implied AND); however, it is not the case.

  10. MI "Execute before login" or "Execute after login" for Windows 8.x

With Windows 8.0 and 8.1 "Execute after login" doesn't work. I want that this functionality comes back for new OS.

This functionality was validated by our QA team and should exist in the K1000 5.5. If not, please work with Support to have a defect opened for resolution
