  1. Improved handling of 64 bit Windows

Running scripts on 64bit clients are limited to the 32bit environment. An example is registry keys. There is no way to access the 64bit registry hive as the kbox client only sees the wow6432node, 32bit, registry hive.

In 10.0 this problem was solved natively.
Example for runkbot task to check registry key exist on 64 bit OS
HKLM\Software\ABC (No extension, this is checking under HKLM\Software\WOW6432Node\ABC)
    HKLM32\Software\ABC (32 extension specified, so checking HKLM\Software\WOW6432Node\ABC)
HKLM64\Software\ABC (64 extension specified, so checking HKLM\Software\ABC, not the WOW6432Node redirect)
We added “NAT” extension in addition to 32 and 64, which would mean use the OS native (64 on 64 bit OS, 32 on 32 bit OS).
    64 bit OS HKLMNAT\Software\ABCHKLM\Software\ABC
32 bit OS HKLMNAT\Software\ABCHKLM\Software\ABC (there is no redirect space anyway on 32 bit OS)

  2. Exclude based on label

Having the ability to use labels to exclude from, as well as, include systems in an MI etc. would be helpful.

  3. Ability to Upgrade Hard Drives or Add to Array on K1100

I would very much like to be able to increase the capacity of the K1100 by adding disks to the array. The current disk allocation does not serve my needs and I don't even want to have to think about how full the KACE drives are. There are 3 open slots for 2.5" drives that I'd like to be able to use on my very expensive KACE appliance. Thanks!

The KACE Appliances have all gone virtual or SaaS this past year. We are sorry that we cannot help with this specific request.

We regreat that, given the very high level of resources required to provide this feauture, it is highly unlikely that we will consider it for a release any time in the near future;. So we are declining it and freeing up your votes to be used for other feature requests. Thank you for your understanding.

  5. Alienware needs to be added to the Dell Updates portion of the K1000.

Alienware is a high power machine used by many businesses for graphic design. It needs to be added to the Dell Updates of the K1000.

At this time, only business line platforms (Latitude, Optiplex, and Precision) adhere to the stricter instrumentation requirements. Alienware is considered a consumer platform and does not comply to the same driver specifications that the business line platforms do.

  6. CAS support for single sign on authentication

Many systems use CAS to support single sign on authentication. It would be great if KBOX could support single sign on for integration with portals and other systems. Currently, KBOX only supports LDAP or local auth.

Although it is possible to have multiple people working on a ticket, technically, only a single person can work on a ticket at a time. The current owner can reassign the ticket to the next owner once he or she is done. If you want multiple people to get notified on the ticket changes, you can assign them as Ticket CC users. This also enables a better tracking on who worked on ticket at a particular time

  9. Allow Non-submitters to comment on a ticket

Would love to have the ability to allow non-submitters with a stakehold to be able to comment within a ticket. Currently only Submitters can make comments on a ticket, however if you have a ticket that might have 3 individuals that might have information to add to a ticket, it would be good to be able to allow them. This would be different then a CC List, as it is also beneficial for people to receive notification but not comment.

  10. Change format of "Updated Patches Available" report to show content inline (HTML)

Since the upgrade to 6.3 the "Updated Patches Available" report mails no longer list the patches inline. Instead, the email contains a zip file, and this is very annoying.

  11. Allow agents to connect via reverse proxy using publicly trusted certificate

With the KONEA revision for the agents the KOENA SSL certificate is being used for agent communication back to the K1000. This is a self signed certificate issued by KONEA to KONEA.

If you install a publicly trusted certificate for your K1000 URL in your reverse proxy, the user/admin portal and the mobile app work fine. However, the agent continues to require the self signed certificate and will not connect to the K1000 using the trusted certificate.

Why not allow the agent to use standard SSL certificate stores for communication instead of the self signed certificate?

This will become obsolete in 11.0. We are going to route all agent communications via the Konea tunnel which uses the Konea self-signed cert. Therefore, SMA certificate will be irrelevant.

  13. Consistency in OS Selection, Alert Messaging, and Scheduling

Currently, there are several variations on common components in the K1000 admin interface that cause confusion & force workarounds. Some implementations of the OS selection force you to go in and revise all Custom Inventory Rules every time a OS update is released. Some instances of scheduling force the creation of multiple items (alerts & Wake on LAN events, for example) because they are needed multiple times in 1 week to match a patch schedule. These are the different implementations I have seen:

    1) OS Selection-
Software Inventory: (also used for custom inventory rules) forces admins to select supported OS…

  14. Concurrent License Tracking

We would like to be able to do concurrent license tracking. Right now we only know what machines are using a license and for how long. That doesn't tell me how many people were using the software at a specific time. Even something as simple as a resettable counter for max number of simultaneous uses would be sufficient.

  15. Improve search in the Knowledge Base module

The current search in the Knowledge Base seems to only do an exact match and only a single match. For example if you search MOVE MOUSE it would return the match "Move Mouse to select text" but if you search MOUSE MOVE it would not return this. It makes searching knowledge base very limited because you can do multiple keyword searches as it stands today.

  16. Run multiple scripts in a particular machine implementation with labels

Run multiple scripts in a particular machine implementation with labels, for example want to run the Script 1, Script 2 Script Script 3 and 4 on the computer "EXAMPLE1" SCRIPTS I would create a label and add to this computer "EXAMPLE1" simple but very functional.

  17. Provide NIC Teaming support in KACE appliances

Provide NIC Teaming for the Dell KACE appliances. Since the appliances run FreeBSD64 and there has been teaming support (called LAGG in BSD parlance) for more than a decade and the KACE appliances are targeted to companies that put everything in as highly-available this should become a priority. This has been solved and would be simple to cook into the FreeBSD builds.

  20. Better Phone support

Kace has some of the best support staff ever, it’s just hard to make contact with them. I have needed them twice since the 5.5 upgrade and getting hold of them with limited hours and no weekend support has been difficult, communicating through their ticketing system is just painful. As a hospital that depends heavily on our Kace appliances we need the assurance that we can reach out when needed for support.
