Label awareness: software is installed when placed into a label - uninstalls when removed from label
Similar to group policy software installs via active directory, it would be ideal to have labels react likewise. When a computer is placed into a label, it would install whatever software or managed installs assigned to the label - when the computer is removed from the label, the software would uninstall at next check-in instead of remaining on the pc, leaving unnecessary / not utilized software across the inventory.
364 votesThis is a great idea. We will need to first blend the software and managed install functions into the software catalog in order to do this. This is something that will take a while to implement, but certainly has our interest.

Software inventory aging
I would like to see an aging process for removal of software that is no longer installed but resides in the software inventory. It wouuld be nice to include an audit process where software is flagged after 90 days of a zero install count to add to a smart label then report before removal from the table.

License Key Scanning
Add the ability to scan computer registries for installed software license keys, along the lines of Belarc Advisor or RecoverKeys.

Combine individual listings of the same software (and version) from uncataloged software
In the uncataloged software list, the same software with the same version is listed multiple times. It would be nice to have it listed once so we can add it to the catalog once if needed.

Smart Labels for the Software Catalog, with metering for software in those labels
I would like to have the ability to create Smart Labels in the Software Catalog.
For example, I would like to meter usage of Microsoft Visio. I can go into the Software Catalog, check the box for each Visio entry, go to Choose Action > Enable Metering. When another version is installed in our environment, I have to go back and enable metering for that one, too.
It would be much easier if I could have a label that looked for software that started with Visio, and had metering enabled.
This would also catch non-standard versions of software that were…

Enable metering for AutoCAD and Revit products
Currently, software metering does not collect data on AutoCAD products (software that runs acad.exe) or Revit products (software that runs revit.exe).
Other Autodesk software, including AutoCAD LT (acadlt.exe) can be metered.
As I understand it, and correct me if I'm wrong, the Software Catalog is based on the old ASAP Software's eSmart program, specifically, the software identification, catalog, and metering. Back when we were customers of eSmart, AutoCAD software was initially not metered, but we made a request to have it metered, and their software engineers were able to make that happen. eSmart's metering tracked the usage of vanilla acad.exe…

Ability to control (filter) what shows in the license compliance view
There are many software titles that are showing up in our license compliance view that are not licensable for our environment. This adds a lot of noise and makes regular reviews of compliance more difficult than it has to be. We would like the ability to control what is shown in the license compliance view. Add a switch in the most appropriate place that asks "include in license compliance view (Y/N)?" Make the default yes but let the customer switch that to no if the are certain a product is not a licensed product in their environment. environment.

Use Separate Log File For Metering
Currently metering information is logged in the kagent.log file, which can make it somewhat difficult to skim through the log when troubleshooting issues with other processes like patching, since every time a process is launched, metering writes entries to the log.
It would be great if there were a separate log file to store this metering information instead of the kagent.log file, allowing for a cleaner, easier to read kagent.log.

Fix inequality symbols and statements for software version numbers with periods.
I would like inequality symbols and statements to work correctly and consistently for numbers with periods, such as "10.1.102.64" in Smart Labels, Advanced Search and in Scripts for plist number comparisons & registry value comparisons.

Inventory Browser Plug-Ins on Mac Computers
Please add to the inventory of software for Mac computers the folder /Library/Internet Plug-Ins. Currently on Windows machines I can see in inventory what version of the Flash player plug-in is installed, but I cannot do this for Macs.

Application control is great but need more granularity
I would like to be able to define lists of software that must be blocked , then tie these lists to specific labels which can then be applied as required. For example we may want to block teamviewer on all devices except for Kiosks.
Due to our organisation structure we cannot split out devices based on type.

Give the ability to manually enter license utilization
KACE will measure utilization for licenses installed per computer. However some this breaks down in some cases, such as:
1. Per Processor licensing; e.g. 18 Oracle Enterprise processor licenses, but KACE sees it installed on 3 servers, each server has 6 processors
2. Cloud Subscriptions; e.g. Exchange Online is never installed, it is only used. The option to manually maintain license utilization would make KACE license compliance a complete solution for all software assets.

When a Software License is over compliance it should generate a helpdesk ticket
I think that when a license is out of compliance or at the license threshold it should generate a ticket for the helpdesk.
Example: I have 10 licenses of AutoCAD. I install it on 11 machines by accident. Kace would see that the license is over compliance and generate a ticket to the helpdesk so that the issue can be resolved quickly.

Asset/License-Change Apprv for Comp. field to move machines to select pool vs multi-select list box.
Changes the Approved for Computers from a single multi-select list box to a control that allows to move the computer into a selected pool and possibly move back to a non-selected pool. Add a Total Count to the number of computers listed in the “Approve for Computers”. This will increase data efficiency and integrity.

Force kiosk operation on a designated machine
I think it would be greatly useful to have the K1000 provide a simple check-on/check-off option to force a designated computer to operate in kiosk-mode, with a list of programs that should be allowed to run.
In our environment, we have two desktops that were set up specifically in two conference rooms to subject job candidates to a psychological assessment, as part of our job interview process. Lately, I've noticed a growing trend of employees booking those conference rooms just to use the computer, which makes it unavailable for use by HR.
That's why I'd like to lock down those…

Allow Device Smart Label to search for Software Labels of installed software
Targeting a software title and a software version is too finicky and creates too many potential false positives if the version number is not unique. I would like the ability to go into the Software Inventory and assign a software label to the specific software version that needs to be updated or removed, and then create a device smart label that identifies any devices that have software installed that match what's included in the software label.

Show inventoried machines without selected software, process, startup item
When looking at software, process, startup, or other computer inventory details, often the important item is not what machine have the software, but what machines do not have the software. Whenever computers are listed, I would like the default to be to show machines with the item, but to to be able to click a tab to switch to showing machines in inventory without the item. An example where this would be useful would be switching to show machines without security software installed.

Custom software catalog entry
Add the ability to catalog executables that are missing info (Custom entries) and the ability to add custom inventory to the catalog for some custom applications that don't fit the normal .exe but need to be accounted for. Quite a few engineering field applications fit this.

Applications White/Black Listing
Based on this post: https://kace.uservoice.com/forums/82699-kace-systems-management-appliance-sma/suggestions/9857910-add-application-whitelisting, will it be possible to whitelist/blacklist applications not only from the Software Catalog but also from the Software inventory? There are software vendors that are not included in the Software Catalog, but their applications are in the Software inventory. It would be nice to have that options and allow or block these apps too.
