  1. deploy agent or managed installs over https rather than smb/cifs

We are serving clients both inside and outside the network, using a reverse proxy to only allow https and agent connections (no smb ports). We'd really prefer not to expose these to the internet.

As I understand, the clients will pull from an smb path. It would be good if they could fetch over https, as this would allow both "inside" and "outside" clients to benefit from managed installs.

  3. Reboot required option

On Managed Distribution (install or uninstall), Please have an option that reboot is needed to complete the setup. Users would still be given the alert and snooze options.

  4. Allow replication of Managed Installs

We have a number of sites which have slow congested WAN links. It would be great to have the managed installs replicate the same way patches replicate. This would reduce the overhead of deploying large software packages to one machine and having the replication share handle distribution at each location.

  5. Single user based deployment

We assign installations to user based groups, to keep software persistent when users change machines. Would love to be able to add an individual user to an MI, much like adding a single machine.

  6. Managed Install's dependency to scripts

The idea is that when installing a managed software, this software might need a dependency to a script (stop service, uninstall , kill process etc). At the moment you have to time the scripts and then execute the MI. After install you might have to create a new script to start the process.

  7. Internal way to preserve the checksum of a managed install

When updating a large .zip for managed installation, the checksum is removed when the file is placed in clientdrop (or when moved to the drop folder). When the installation kicks off, since the checksum of the file does not match the checksum the installation is expecting, the .zip is removed from the target PC. A Kace on-site implementation specialist had a brilliant idea: Use kdeploy -hash <filename> to determine the checksum. Then run a SQL query in the ticketing rules to apply that checksum to your .zip file. Worked perfectly. This could easily be included in the k1000 and would…

  8. Allow script to be entered in Managed Install

It would be good if you could pick a Kace script to run before or after a Managed Install as part of the actual Managed Install procedure instead of a script being a completely separate section.

  9. The ability to combine distributions and scripting would allow for better, more simplistic methods of maintaining software compliance.

  10. Show Connected when reviewing status of managed installs

It would be great when you review managed installs to see why a machine did not install if the Connect icon showed. Connect and push now button would be great.

  11. Download software BEFORE Notification

Currently Managed Installations currently waits to download package/software when Notify is turned on. Request that once the software is downloaded then the Notify is acted upon. This would be much more efficient and less time consuming for the end user. Especially useful for large software packages.

  12. Fujitsu PC Support

We have Dell and Fujitsu HW. It would be helpfull, if K1000 supports the Fujitsu HW more. Especially driver- and OS- Installation is to be done in other steps than with the Dell HW. The Dell Integration is very good. If the Fujitsu Integration would be on the same level, our work would be done easier...

  13. Stage Package Installation on Clients

When a user has a laptop and primarily works remotely the option to install a package before user logon does not work since the user logs in before a VPN connection is established. This results in some managed installations never installing as the K1000 does not stage packages for installation at a later time on the client. If we could have this feature added that would be helpful in managing the software on remote access clients.

  14. Add integration with AutoPKG for Mac application deployment ease.

https://github.com/autopkg/autopkg is a tool for software distribution packages on macOS. It has the ability to notify and pre-package application for re-distribution. Within the tool various output recipes can be built. KACE should build one of these for Managed Installs that would enable the packages to be imported into the K1000 or K2000 as KPKG files.

  15. Integrate P2P for transfer of managed installs / file synchronisation / scripts and such.

Integrate a P2P system (ie private bit torrent) for transfer of all MI/File Synchronisation/Script resources within KACE allowing "zones" and bandwidth control to be setup (i.e. group sites with slow broadband together with lower bandwidth allocation, sites with faster, FttC for example, broadband links using a higher bandwidth allocation).

We maintain approx 900 stores via private WAN or VPN so are very conscious of bandwidth constraints, ability to seed to large files (for example office installs, or even WIM images),control bandwidth managed through KACE would be very useful for us, especially as this would de-risk rollouts of AV and office…

  16. process detection for managed installs

Some applications don't "behave" well if a certain process is running and you attempt to update the application (ex: flash, java, etc). Killing the process before install is not an option, as killing these programs while in use could disrupt their work. In the past, the workaround has been to simply perform the managed install at login instead of "Anytime" but some people refuse to shut down their machines for weeks at a time. It would be incredibly helpful if a process detection option were available for managed installations like there is for the online kscripts, where I can say…

  17. The ability to distribute .msu files (MS 64 bit update files) would be very handy for times when waiting for a patch deployment is too slow

.msu files don't seem to be support for manage distribution. If I have a patch (msu id Microsoft's 64 bit patch file extension) that needs to go out, but isn't in the patch list yet, I can try creating a script, but being able to use the managed distribution feature would be much easier

  18. application/program wizard for one stop package creator

I would like to see kace created an application/program wizard that can take an EXE or MSI and create a custom installer tailored to the admins preference. Have some basic parameters that you can define like silent install, escalate privileges, name default locations, a way to simplify deployment packages for the Novice admin team. Also it would be nice to create the Label, Distribution, asset name and category of software all in one wizard. This could help a lot of newer users get software deployed easier without all the trial and error. Also it would be beneficial if you could just…

  20. Managed Installation Tasks

On the Managed Installations page, I believe it would be beneficial for the Managed Installation Tasks at the bottom to be a table that allows it to be refreshed (and to have the option to change the frequence) so that we can see what the status of the installs are (rather than f5 every few min).
