  1. completion message

Currently in patch scheduling > Notify > you must have a progress message in order to save a completion message. Also, the progress message shows at all times until the job is done.

    1. Do not require a progress message in order to have a completion message. I only want a completion message in Notify. There is not much point to the progress message, it's just more noise end-users don't care about or need to see, especially if the progress message always shows during the job.

    2. More importantly, for the progress message, allow timeouts to be specified on the…

  2. "Lock" a patch label

Our current patching procedure involves running a test job of newly released patches from our smart labels on the Wed. following Patch Tues. We run this test job on approx. 10 IT lab PC’s + the PC’s of users who use critical applications. Once the test job and application testing is complete, we would like a way to lock the patch job to prevent additional patches from being added to the Smart Labels. Currently, patches that are downloaded to the K1000 subsequent to our testing and prior to the scheduled company-wide patch deployment can be dynamically added to the Smart…

  3. alphabetize lists by default

There seem to be a few sections (such as the Patching Detect/Deploy Status section under Device Detail) that present lists that I immediately have to click on the top of the column to alphabetize the list. These should be alphabetical by name by default.

  4. Email notification upon Patch Schedule Completion

As many users do, i assume that they have patch schedules set up.. Detect or Deploy only. or even full detect and deploy.. Set up to run at specific times.

Currently, when you go into that patch schedule, you can see down at the bottom, the machines it will be doing (based on your selection), with Amount needing to be patching, that were patched, etc.. and the STATUS.

Currently i have created a report, which i now manually run the next morning, to give me this information. I want to see WHAT was done automatically, without having to log into…

  5. Pre-staging of patches

To increase our patching run rates and to better manage network bandwidth, we’d like the ability to pre-stage required patches on systems and kick off the installation at a designated time; preferably, the appliance tells the agent to start its patching cycle at the designated time (especially for devices off-network like laptops).

It's my understanding that staging doesn't occur with just a detect; the updates are only copied down during the deploy phase.

This is under consideration but not planned for the next release, Please continue voting if you’d like to see this feature prioritized for a future release.

  6. Ability to easily update all computers to a current version of a program ie: Adobe Reader

Would love a check box to bring all computers up to a current version of a software. When we look at Adobe Reader, we server versions 8-11. Would love a check box on patching to bring all installs up to version 11.

  7. Ask user to confirm before rebooting

On the reboot prompt, ask user if they are sure they want to reboot. Some users don't see the window pop up and hit enter and reboot by mistake without a chance to close their work.

  8. Improve Functionality of No Reboot option

As a previous user of Shavlik I was hoping to have a No Reboot option in KACE that worked the same way as the Shavlik SafeReboot option: "Alert user, perform action when user logs off". As soon as the user logs off the patches complete installation and the system reboots automatically.

We have tried the No Reboot option (along with "Automatically reboot when no one is logged in" checked) but that does not seem to work the same way, it doesn't kick off the patch installation or reboot upon logoff. We have researchers who work at all hours and cannot…

  9. Custom CRON Schedules

"In the Administrator's Guide it says that custom schedules can be set to "Run on the first Monday of each month at 09:00" and has the example of 0 9 1-7 * 1. This does not work." Your KB article 125945 - We have always run on a monthly patch schedule following Microsoft patch Tuesdays. It would be really beneficial to have this work. Otherwise, I have to adjust times every month.

  10. Allow for a reboot time window on patching, and ability to coordinate patching/rebooting with WOL.

Ex: Only patch computers between 11pm-4am. Send a WOL at 11pm and update/reboot as needed between this time frame.

  11. Including a message in no reboot option

I'd like to have the ability to include a message for the "no reboot" option. Currently, only the "prompt user" and "force reboot" options can include a message.
For example, in Windows, when using windows updates WSUS, even if no reboot option is used (No auto-restart with logged on users for scheduled automatic updates installations option), the users still get the notification saying the machine has been updated and needs to be rebooted while not forcing a reboot and the notification is present until the system is rebooted. I'd like Kace to be able to do this. Currently in Kace,…

  12. reboot

When using the reboot option, although the timer does appear on the desktop, the countdown timer doesn't decrement. If the countdown timer is set to 30 minutes, the timers remains at 30 minutes until reboot. The timer doesn't move. It's doing it in the background but the users don't see the timer decrementing and it confuses the users as they do not know how much time they have left before it'll reboot. I'd like it to show the timer counting down.

  14. Let remote users download patches from microsoft

Company with about 500 machines off which > 400 work from remote locations often.

When a machine is not connected to the company network, it would download it's microsoft updates directly from microsoft. When inside the company network it would download it's updates from the replication shares.

  16. Start patching process from the client (for servers)

On my servers I want to start patching completely manual so it would be great if we had an patching option that starts the patching only when an (admin-)user on the client interactively clicks a "Patch now!"-button in a request window.

Patches could have been downloaded before to the client so that we have something like the "Download-automatically-but-install-manually"-Option in WSUS.

  17. Allow for incremental updates to Bios in K1000 Dell Updates.

Some of our machines currently have the bios that came on them from the factory, in this case A00.
The Dell Update catalog on the K1000 has bios A07.
You cannot jump from A00 to A07 without another bios in between.
Perhaps having all available bios's available in the Dell Update catalog would be good so that updates wouldn't be broken in this situation.

  18. amp agent in patch schedules

It would be nice to have the AMP Agent Icon displayed in the Scheduled Task Status right between the # column and Machine Name column. We use it to see if the machines in the lab are up and don't have to switch back and forth to the inventory, then label etc to see this info.

    It would be very helpful.

  19. Separate options for Embedded OS

Right now, selecting and OS automatically includes patches for Embedded OS options. For those not interested in Embedded, it causes extra clutter and work to manage patching.

Make embedded OS separate options in Subscription. Example: Windows 7, Windows 7 Embedded, Windows 8, Windows 8 Embedded

  20. "Automatically Reboot: When no one is logged in" seems to reboot computers that are locked. This is not good.

Having users who lock their computers come back to find their work lost/closed because of a reboot is undesirable. "Logged off" needs to mean logged off. It would also be nice to have this option available under 'Force reboot' so that it only reboots when nobody is logged in.
