  1. Automatic Software Patch

It would be nice if the K1000 gave a way to automatically acquire software updates for many of the popular programs like so many other software / patch management programs now do.

  2. Tray icon color changes if patches are pending

For the KACE agent tray icon, I would like to see the color be something different, maybe yellow, when there are patches pending that need to be install. That way, when a technician say is working on it, he could go ahead and push patches to the machine to see if a patch resolves an issue.

  3. Ability to Export Patches in Native .MSU format

Currently patches can only be exported in the .kpkg format. Having the ability to export in the native Microsoft format will allow one to patch a system that is either having issues with the KBOX client, or another server in your enviornment that is not managed by the KBOX.

  4. Allow for reboots before detect and deploy cycles

We have encountered many times when a user leaves for the day without logging out, rebooting, etc and as a result patches fail to install because an application is running. It would be nice to be able to say as part of a patch schedule "reboot prior to detection" or "reboot prior to deployment." In my case, I want the patch cycle to look something like this:
    Run detection
IF patches are required, reboot prior to deployment (to ensure all applications are closed)
    Deploy patches
    reboot if reboot is required

There of course would need to be alert mechanisms for…

  5. Patch Management and Dell Updates

In a managed installation you have the possibility to perform the installation at boot. It would be helpful if you also introduce these settings for Patch Management and Dell Updates.

  6. Send e-mail report each time the supported applications and operating systems for patching documentation is updated

Please implement a way to notify users via e-mail each time the "KACE SMA - K1000 Patching Support" document is updated. Currently, we do not know that this list has been updated until we manually open up the link and view the attachment, which potentially could lead to compliance issues. Example of this attachment is located here: https://support.quest.com/kb/112030/supported-applications-and-operating-systems-for-patching

  7. Alerts additional schedule option

With current version of K1000 it's possible to schedule deployments on patching on preselected dates like run on the first Thursday of each month, second Saturday, etc.
I would like to have same option for Distribution/Alerts. Currently there is no way to send alert remaining users to shutdown their programs ( like day before )
before updates will be executed on second Saturday of the month. You can only setup specific day or same day recurrence ( like every 10th day of month )
It will be great if both patching and alerts schedules can be run on same set…

  8. Patching scheduler needs granular selection of the months for "Run On The" options

Windows Task Scheduler gives a check box for select all months or you can granularly select the months you want to run a schedule on. This would be a good feature to add to the KACE patching scheduler.

Current scheduler will require me to create 6 schedules for a job that I have to run every OTHER month on the Third Friday of those months. The schedules would be much cleaner if I could just select the months I want the schedule to run on.

  9. email

I would like to have an email alert option on some patch jobs to email me when the job is complete instead of having the check back at the console.

  10. Allow patching/update of VMWare ESXi trough KACE

There are quite often new updates for ESXi systems released, however, in our company those are currently not being patched as we have no options for it. It would be great if this could be implemented in KACE to allow us to update our ESXi environment using KACE instead of doing it manually or have to use another product for patching.

  11. Improve Functionality of No Reboot option

As a previous user of Shavlik I was hoping to have a No Reboot option in KACE that worked the same way as the Shavlik SafeReboot option: "Alert user, perform action when user logs off". As soon as the user logs off the patches complete installation and the system reboots automatically.

We have tried the No Reboot option (along with "Automatically reboot when no one is logged in" checked) but that does not seem to work the same way, it doesn't kick off the patch installation or reboot upon logoff. We have researchers who work at all hours and cannot…

  12. Devices Firmware update

Kace K1000 appliance is able to update BIOS remotely. But I didn't found any option to update devices firmware, like SSD, hard drive, optical drive, webcam, etc.

  13. Allow for a “remove label” option for manual patch labels

Allow for a “remove label” option for manual patch labels created. This ability exists for manual device labels but not for manual patch labels.

  14. Improve the Patch Schedule Drill Down

If I go to Patch Management > Patch Schedules I get a table showing all the patch schedules with columns showing "Pending"; "Downloading", "Executing"... etc. Really useful information at a glance.

If I click on say "Executing" for one of the patches that is running it brings up a list of devices that are currently having patches applied. But it is a list pulled from the inventory. To find out what is actually happening to each computer you have to go into each one, then scroll down to "Patching Detect/Deploy Status" to find out the relevant information. When I've a…

  15. The patch progress window doesn't always close

KACE Patching, "Patching is in progress. This window will close automatically upon completion. Please wait..." Nice feature, but frequently becomes a permanent desktop fixture. After the patch successfully installs, this window never goes away. Every time I've seen it, it's been with Adobe Flash Player updates, but that could be coincidence since they happen so frequently.

  16. Rerun patch schedules for only the devices that are offline or have errors

instead of rerunning a patch schedule for all devices, just continue to run the patch schedule on devices that are not completed or have errored out. If you have two schedules one that has no reboots and and one patch schedule with a reboot option. it should reboot the machine instead of bypassing the pending reboot status inorder to patch the missing patch

  17. Date when a patch was added to KACE, not just when it was released

Since not all patches are available on the day they are released, it might be beneficial to see when that particular patch was added to KACE. We don't want to deploy patches that are untested in our environment, so having that date there would allow us to know both when it was released from Microsoft (for example) and when it was actually added to KACE (4-10 days after).

  19. Add "Download Date" as a filter in creating patch smart label.

I would like to be able to use download date as a criteria in creating a patch smart label. I am currently using release date, but that sometimes causes issues for me when patches are downloaded long after their release date.

  20. Ability to filter patches by Operating System "Begins with" Win 10

The last 2 weeks we have been very busy getting WIndows 10 build 1709 to patch. The patching stopped since the update of the 24th of July.

Our patch label had Win 10 as Operating System.
To fix this, we had to add Win 10 SP0 and Win 10 SP0 x64.

It would be nice to be able to filter on Operating System "begins with" so we don't have to edit the patch labels every time Microsoft decides to change the current active build version of Windows.
