  1. Provide NIC Teaming support in KACE appliances

Provide NIC Teaming for the Dell KACE appliances. Since the appliances run FreeBSD64 and there has been teaming support (called LAGG in BSD parlance) for more than a decade and the KACE appliances are targeted to companies that put everything in as highly-available this should become a priority. This has been solved and would be simple to cook into the FreeBSD builds.

  2. Localization for dutch

Please a localization for dutch speaking countries.
Holland and Belgium (flamish). The UI can now somewhat be localized, but still has the english buttons and texts.

  3. Display K1000 License Number

I was told by Dell Kace support that a new requirement is to provide the technician with the Dell Kace license number for support. He also told me that this cannot be retrieved from the device. In light of the high turnover rate of Administrator, this information should be viewable in the "About K1000" window with the serial number. It would save a lot of time and arguing with technical support.

Thank you for your suggestion. This has been added to the feature request list. We encourage others to vote as we use this input for prioritizing our release plans.

  4. K1000 should support VirtIO drivers

With the growing popularity of virtualization hypervisors that require VirtIO drives, Quest should start supporting that. Nutanix is another example of an environment where VirtIO drivers are required. Everything else we have can handle it, K1000 is the only outlier.

  5. Add trigger based e-mail alerts

All events in the KBox should have e-mail alert triggers, including script events, loss of AMP connectivity, etc.

For example, a script would have the option to send a customizable e-mail message in the "Remediation" section of a task.

  6. Allow for the import of Active Directory groups as LDAP Smart Labels.

This would easily allow for granular label management for users and devices - especially if the groups have already been set up in AD. Additionally, this could potentially allow for some cross over and AD management via KACE and vice versa - as users and computers could be managed via AD in relation to their group membership and therefore their label association.

  7. General Security | Give me the ability to change the root password!

For goodness sake... the K1000 is a security nightmare. So at least give me the ability to change the root password.
Also you could (which would really be no big deal) change the settings of the web-server that you don't get 404 messages where you can find the current patchlevel of the K1000 and such things. Just drop the request. It really isn't that hard.

  8. import labels

Allow labels to be imported from csv. This would make arbitrary (non-smart) labelling much easier.

  9. Agent handler in DMZ

I think it would be awesome if there was an "agent handler" that could be deployed in the DMZ that would serve as a portal between the network appliance and the outside network agents.

This would allow internet agents to check in without allowing the whole system to be exposed to attacks.

  10. Support for 2 NICs, each on separate networks

I need to place my KACE on a DMZ, with 1 NIC on a "private" network and 1 NIC on a "public" network. I do not have the ability to do port forwarding or NAT. I need to have it support local assets and remote.

  11. Fix the SMTP test when using Anonymous authentication

We user IP authentication instead of user name/password for our SMTP server. I get an error message whenever I try to send a test email from the SMTP settings in the KACE appliance.

The error message is: "Invalid email address format for the username"

This should be fixed to allow a blank username and password to work with the test.

  12. I would like to see added support for KVM hypervisor (see ticket 4149427) on virtual appliances

I would like to see added support for KVM hypervisor (see ticket 4149427) on virtual appliances. This would require support for additional block storage device types, specifically virtio drivers.

I was able (after messing with the install ISO's /etc/fstab entries) to get it to install and it's working great!

Could NOT import hyper-v nor vmware appliances due to the block device type.

    Import pre-configured appliance
Configure block device as VirtIO, and NIC as Intel E1000
Insert FreeBSD installation DVD into available CDROM
Set Boot Order such that the CDROM is booted first
After the VM boots to a prompt asking…

  13. Enable SSH access for konfig and netdiag

Enabling SSH for konfig/netdiag would allow users to make configuration changes without having access to the console or the webui.

  15. Data Dictionary

Make the Dell KACE data dictionary available to KACE customers. This helps with building queries. The schema does not help without a dictionary.

  17. Konductor log munin plugin

A munin plugin could be a more readable way to monitor the K1000 activity.

  18. Integrate Kace with ActiveDirectory

It would be nice if Kace didn't have to import users via LDAP/Manual process. Why not just query AD against the login credentials provided? The LDAP import process is buggy and not as granular not to mention a headache to setup.

  20. Application proxy setting for KACE Agent.

In my environment(s) we have developers who set HTTP_PROXY & HTTPS_PROXY as system environment variables so that they can run their applications. With these set, the KACE agent will not check in correctly.

I propose that we have application specific proxy settings available for the KACE agent application, whereby should no proxy settings be configured on the application, all other possible locations for setting a proxy (eg. IE, netsh, Env) are ignored and a direct connection is attempted unless otherwise specified.
