  1. Ability to Upgrade Hard Drives or Add to Array on K1100

I would very much like to be able to increase the capacity of the K1100 by adding disks to the array. The current disk allocation does not serve my needs and I don't even want to have to think about how full the KACE drives are. There are 3 open slots for 2.5" drives that I'd like to be able to use on my very expensive KACE appliance. Thanks!

  2. Alienware needs to be added to the Dell Updates portion of the K1000.

Alienware is a high power machine used by many businesses for graphic design. It needs to be added to the Dell Updates of the K1000.

At this time, only business line platforms (Latitude, Optiplex, and Precision) adhere to the stricter instrumentation requirements. Alienware is considered a consumer platform and does not comply to the same driver specifications that the business line platforms do.

  3. Update BIOS that has a password

In an enterprise environment it is common practice to have a BIOS password to stop users accidentally/deliberately accessing the BIOS and making changes that would affect the operation of the computer.

It appears that Distribution/Dell Updates cannot update a BIOS if it has a password set. This means that I have to go to ~1000 computers and upgrade the BIOS manually which is an extreme waste of time when KACE was purchased to do that sort of stuff automatically and it can't update a Dell computer's BIOS.

  4. Inventory Only Agent

Provide an agent that will return hardware, software, custom, and patch inventories but will not allow for patching, scripting or managed install distributions.

  6. Driver Feed: Include more "used" Dell Models

We have some older Dell computers that are not in the driver feed. They should be included in the feed.

    Such as Dell Latitude D620
    Optiplex gx620
    Optiplex 320
    330
    360
    755
    260
    280

Basically all Dell drivers on the website for download/installation should be included in the feed.

The models you highlighted preceded the driver feed and did not adhere to the necessary standards in order to automatically add them to the feed.

  7. Able to implemment linux agent using no-root privilegies.

Install agents in linux systems using sudo command.
currently installing linux agent needs root permission

We feel it is reasonable to require root privileges for this function and should use resources for other features. Thank you very much for your suggestion and our my apologies for not being able to commit to this.

  8. Approvers by department

We need to be able to departmentalize approvers. I don’t need an approver from one department approving tickets for another department.

We did not have enough votes to consider this for development. We are freeing up your votes to reuse. If you still feel strongly about this being required, please create a new request.

  9. Fix the Quarantine Script for Windows 7 Machines

The Quarantine Script currently in the K1000 only works on Windows XP. The Script is no longer valid on Windows 7 machines. This is needed highly for when a computer on our network as a Virus we need to be able to take the network resources away.

After careful consideration, we have decided to deprecate this script in the next release due to a number of technical obstacles. We will look at integrating with Dell SonicWall’s Advanced End Point Control some time in the future.

  10. Service Desk - Technician Only Notes Field

I would like to be able to add "Tech Notes" the same way you would "Add Comment." The Tech Notes would only be viewable to service desk Owners and not by the end users. The end user would not be notified of an update to the ticket nor would they be able to see anything different. Sometimes techs need to add notes that the end user just does not need to see. Thank you! Please Vote!!!

This is possible today via the “Owners Only” checkbox for a comment. When this box is checked, only ticket Owners can view this comment.

  11. Advanced Search feature at Settings - Users

It would be great to have the same Advanced Search under Settings -> Users tab, as we have under all tabs of Inventory

  12. multiple snmp ip scan

Allow for more than one SNMP community string in an IP Inventory Scan.

we have thousands of devices and not all have the same SNMP community string, it would be nice to allow us to specify a list of community strings to attempt during the IP Inventory Scan. Simmilar to how we can specify multiple ports to scan.

  13. Ability to separate Custom Inventory items from Software

I have some Custom Inventory items that are not for software but informational purposes. I would like to be able to select a check box so that these items will not show up in the Installed Programs list for the computer inventory item.

  14. Inventory - Server Detection

It would be nice if the KACE agent when installed on a server could detect and report automatically on an enhanced range of settings. Ie, having the kace agent installed on a Server 2k8 R2 box it would be nice if another section appeared in the inventory called Server with sub headings of Shares, Roles, Configurations. Having it show active dhcp ranges etc would be great for keeping track of large environments where a great number of virtual servers are used.

  15. Make "Required on Close" an option that can be set if requirements are met

What I want is custom fields that are required for the user to fill in, but only if the ticket is labelled as a high priority.

  16. security in Help Desk

Have the possibility to block certain queues from certain help desk administrators. That way different helpdesk teams can only work with their own queues and don't see confidential information in tickets from other queues.

  17. Patching overhaul

Following up on the list of URLs that KACE needs to communicate with, could you please include the ability to understand proxy configuration files like wpad.dat or proxy.pac files?

If this is not possible, we may need to work more closely with Dell to understand whether or not a list of subnets could be used for the nominated list. We’ve identified that several of the addresses appear to be load balanced and may be forwarded to completely different IP ranges.

  18. Update support for Citrix XenServer to support version 6.x

According to technical support, Dell currently supports Citrix XenServer version 5.x

Citrix released version 6.0 around September of 2011.

The KBOX agent does run on XenServer 6.0, however it incorrectly reports key characteristics of the client machine. Some of the items incorrectly reported are:

Physical processor count is doubled. For example a machine with two physical process reports to the KBOX as having four.

    Memory is not reported accurately

The operating system is reported as "release unknown ()"

  20. Active downloads from KBOX (monitor active installs)

There should be a way to tell when a computer is downloading software or other files via HTTP. Maybe a way via the MUNIN interface or SNMP (or preferably in the database).

I've been all over the database tables, http://<kbox>/munin and SNMP and this information doesn't appear to be available.
