Additional end-user options for patch installs
I would like to be able to give my users the flexibility to schedule installs of patches at a time that suits them ... for example, when the popup appears on the client PC, offer them a range of options such as:
-- install now
-- remind me in 1 hour
-- remind me at 11:00am
-- install when I next shut down

The current options still frustrate. The countdown to reboot timer for instance doesn't show the user the time remaining, and if you set a notify time of over 60 mins it just reboots after that time anyway. Needs some work please as our users hate this! Thanks :)
We really do need this flexibility to controll the install time

This would be really useful if it could be implemented
PLEASE do this...
This is the biggest complaint that I have about Kace. The user intervention is not sufficient enough and causes our users to be highly frustrated with the patching process. I truly hope that Quest will take a closer look at improving the user intervention of patching so that it works for them better. We had a user conduct a presentation in front of 200 people and patching interrupted her presentation.. this is not acceptable.

This would be great! My users are saying that KACE is a bully when it comes to patching!
In order of preference for me
- Install on shutdown
- Remind me in x minutes
Install at next shutdown would save so much time and headache at setting up schedules and coordinating with WOL times.

Install at next shutdown would be fine. Maybe it is possible to stop the shutdown of the user with 'shutdown -a' and only logout the user, run the patch task (with reboots) and when the patching is finished, shutdown the client.
That would be really great!!!
I hope this option becomes available... I have 75% remote office workers that HATE the patching process. --Install when I shutdown option would be ideal for them!
Include this for the OS X side also, not just for Windows

I like this idea. Let the users choose when they would like to run patches instead complaining to the IT department when a patch comes.
+1 for the upon shutdown option, or allowing users to set a time themselves.

Patching at shutdown would be an excellent option. Users seriously dislike having to reboot or an office application closing because its being patched. I'm sure they'd hate the long shutdowns but it is the best option. For the stationary desktop systems this is of no consequence but a large part of the workforce we manage are mobile carrying laptops.

I agree fully with this post

Our service works like Microsoft WSUS so 10m, 1h, 4h would be good options. Alternatively, provide 4 user settable options, one of which being "when I shut down".

Our service is built to mimic WSUS for our users, so 10m, 1h, 4h are GREAT options. Alternatively, provide 4 user settable options, one of which being "when I shut down".
I'd would be great to even have like a drop down similar to windows update of 3 snooze options like 10min, 1 hour or 4 hours for "Alert User Before Run".
"install when I next shut Down " would be the best
"When I next shutdown" or even not giving them an option - just "upon next shutdown" would be awesome.

Excellent ideas. We struggle today with users getting the sudden, unprompted reboot.
