Including a message in no reboot option
I'd like to have the ability to include a message for the "no reboot" option. Currently, only the "prompt user" and "force reboot" options can include a message.
For example, in Windows, when using windows updates WSUS, even if no reboot option is used (No auto-restart with logged on users for scheduled automatic updates installations option), the users still get the notification saying the machine has been updated and needs to be rebooted while not forcing a reboot and the notification is present until the system is rebooted. I'd like Kace to be able to do this. Currently in Kace, if "no reboot" option is used, after the patch deployment, it doesn't do anything on the client side (no notification) so users are not aware that they need to reboot their system.
I agree this is an option that needs to be added to the patching process. It shouldn't be that hard because that functionality is already built into the other options it just needs to be added to the No Reboot. Or they need to add the ability in the Prompt User option to let the prompts continue until the user reboots their machine. The only option we have come up with is to set the Number of Prompts to a significantly high number that shouldn't be reached before the user gets annoyed by the popups and just reboots the machine.
This is currently my biggest pain-point with Kace's patching. We have a number of users that take their machines home with them on the weekends (when we patch) and then complain about forced reboots in the evenings during the week because they prefer to lock their system at night to keep the 20 things that they have up open.
We experimented with using the Prompt User option, but ran into too many problems with users accidentally rebooting their computer when the prompt would suddenly pop up and they hit Enter or OK to make the prompt go away, not realizing that it will reboot their system.
Having an option to not reboot or prompt the user, but to display a message at set intervals until the computer has rebooted would be amazing.
