  1. Add a Ninite-like library of commonly used software

Ninite provides a consistent interface for installing some of our most commonly used free software. Software like Firefox, Flash, Java, etc. can be installed with the same consistent switches every time, and Ninite takes care of making sure it has the most up-to-date version. That way, instead of having to prepare fresh Java packages every few days we could simply choose to keep that software up to date.

This kind of functionality would go a long way toward making KACE easy to get up and running to manage essential software.

  2. Multiple distribution packages assigned to one software

The problem is that there are a lot of software applications out there that don't differentiate themselves once installed between 32 bit, 64 bit, or any of the OSs (i.e. 2003 vs. 2008) but have different installation packages depending on these items.

  3. Add option to install at system startup

Right now the only managed install options are execute anytime, execute before logon, execute after logon, execute while user logged on, and execute while user logged off. There should be an option to install when the system boots and before the Ctrl+Alt+Del prompt is shown. Right now the "execute before logon" will install literally right before logon: the agent does nothing until someone presses Ctrl+Alt+Delete and then it starts the install, which causes a delay for the person sitting at the computer.

  4. Better configurability over Bandwidth Throttling

The K1000 lacks the ability to throttle bandwidth (other than within Replication Shares.) The bandwidth throttling from within Replication Shares is good, but that is the ONLY place that it can be configured. Having the ability to configure this for the whole KBOX would be a great feature. Things like maximum bandwidth utilization, maximum data transferred, etc.

  5. Managed Install Run As options

Since Run now is available for Managed install. I think there should be deploy As option available just like in scripting. I would like to see Run as Logged-In User. This would allow the admin to choose how they want the install to execute.

    Windows Run As:
    Local System
    Logged-in user
    All logged-in users

  6. Smart managed installs that know if the installation has been patched

I would love it if I could have a managed installation (say Office 2010) that should automatically be installed on all machines. I also want to be able to patch the software to a newer version without the managed install trying to install the software again.

  7. Exclude a machine from getting a Managed Install

I would like the ability to prevent a machine from getting a MI, without creating a new label.

Example: I have our whole library in a group. All machines in the library need Software X. However, Software X conflicts with Software Y that is on our main circulation desk machine. This means I need a whole separate label that excludes that one machine. I would like to just say, within the MI, "Apply to this label, EXCEPT Machine Z".

I hope this makes sense what I'm asking. Thanks.

  8. I'd like to have a way to reset the failed status and/or attempt count for an individual computer's Managed Install.

I'd like to have a way to reset the failed status and/or attempt count for an individual computer's Managed Install. Re-saving the MI resets for all failed, but I'm looking for a way to reset the count and/or failed status for individual computers. I'd prefer to not have to allow sub-admins the permission to save/modify MIs.

  9. Managed Install Scheduling

I would love to see the ability to set a more specific deployment schedule for the managed installs. Make it like the patch deployment scheduling where you can pick certain day(s) of the week, specific time of day, specific date & time, etc. We have many machines that can only have software deployed to them at specific times and this would help automate that process.

  10. Limit Deployment To Listed Machines Manual entry

The Limit deployment list should accept a list of IP’s or computer names separated by returns. When I copy a list from outside Kace or inside Kace I should be able to paste it in notepad or excel manipulate it as I want then paste it to the a manual entry filed that will populate the Limit Deployment To Listed Machines filed.

This will be one new multi-line textboxes that will accept inputs. The textbox will be called manual entry above the textbox two bullets one labeled “by IP” the other “by computer name”. When you paste data into this…

  11. Installation possibility in User-Portal in "User-Context"

I am looking for a feature, that allows Software to be installed in "User Context". Currently, if a software is published in the software portal, the user itself can initiate the installation. The software is then pushed to the UserAgent and the service installs the software with its system account.
I am looking for the possibility to launch installations within the user context (to access HKCU or %APPDATA% from the current user account running this software). Background is that a distributed package (via software portal) or a software installation job could do things like adjusting the signature of the user…

  13. Create label groups for scripting & deployment purposes, not just organizational purposes

While there is an ability to create group labels in the K1000, these serve little purpose other than organizational purposes because the group label cannot be applied to a script which makes it basically useless. I would like the ability to create a group and then use that group however I want, just like any other label. Example: Deploy Script A to Building Z instead of manually selecting each label for Accounting, HR, Admin, etc.

  14. Bypass snooze if no one is logged on to PC

Currently, if no one is logged in to the PC, a Managed Install with a Snooze will fail. It would be nice if the client UI was just bypassed altogether in this case and the managed install allowed to proceed as if the user either ignored the prompt or selected Install Now. This behavior is what one would typically expect if they chose "Install Now" as the timeout option.

  15. windows store for business

It would be good to have support for the Windows Store for Business so the Kace can tell that store to install approved apps on devices.

  16. Better Managed installation log and tracking

Right now one cannot see if a software has been deployed through an MI or has just been detected as installed. I would like to see better logging for managed installations where the admin can see which devices have performed the MI and when. In case of a failed MI, I would like to see the return code or error without having to go to the agent log

  17. Inventory automatically taken when any software or update is installed

It would be extremely beneficial to have any update or software install trigger KACE to take a new inventory.

  18. K1000 Software Library for Mac & Auto-Filtering

Any end-users would like to be empowered to use K1000 software library for installing any software on either Windows or Mac system without required admin privilege. I found that K1000 software library supports only Windows. K1000 software library needs to support Mac, too.

In addition, the auto filter depending on what machine they are running needs to be added to K1000 software library. For example, end-user is logged onto Mac system, then, K1000 software library needs to provide only Mac apps by auto-filtering.

  19. Provide ability to remove the option to snooze a managed install

I would like to be able to limit the options a user has when I'm deploying software. Can we get an option to remove a user's snooze ability?

For instance, if I'm rolling out Office 2019, and I tell my user base you have 2 weeks to complete this install, at the end of the 2 weeks, I should be able to change the default actions on the install to only say Install now; remove snooze completely. It could just be a check box that I can set after a point in time where I'm ready to force the software…
