Import floor map images for tracking physical asset location
Ability to import floor map images and tag with asset location.
730 votesOur thoughts on this feature are evolving. The ability to construct a floor map, plot different objects (people, printers, fire extinguisher, etc) and have links back into the asset management module are all concepts we are starting to think through. This will be a longer term deliverable but please continue providing your feedback.

Ability to edit Descriptions
In the default Inventory view, there is a field called description. On Windows boxes, it picks up what each machine is labeled as but on Macs, it remains empty. As we typically have the user listed, it would be helpful if this field were editable or if the same information could be pulled from Macs from one of their custom fields.

Show mapped network drives in computer inventory
Would love to have a way to see the mapped network drives for each system in the inventory. We use the inventory when it comes time to replace computer systems and right now we have to call individuals to find out what mapped network drives they have and what mapped network printers they have. This requires us to explain in a lot of cases where to go to look and the network path. It is something we would use on a daily basis.

Print asset labels
The ability to print asset labels would be a great addition to the asset portion.
It would allow you to take fields from the asset management system already and create a label with it to add to the devices.
Also being able to turn some of the field into a barcode for the label would also be great.

Add Hard Disk Drive model to computer inventory detail
It would be very helpful if we could determine the hard drive model installed in our PC's without having to manually search.
95 votesThis is under consideration but not planned for the next release, Please continue voting if you’d like to see this feature prioritized for a future release.

Asset Management of computer peripherals, monitors, printers, scanners, usb devices
Asset Management of computer peripherals, monitors, printers, scanners, usb devices as part of the computer inventory.
In the inventory of the computer if you could see the ports that the printer is connected to. Right now it just shows the name of the printers installed but if it showed the port also this would help out Help Desk Techs. They wouldn't have to remote the computer to get this information. They could just add printers for a new/rebuild of a machine.

Synchronize physical inventory from the barcode scanner with automatically discovered assets
We have a handheld bar-code scanner that we use to inventory all of our physical devices. Before adopting the K1000 we were using Numara Track-it system to do the inventory. The great thing about Track-it was the fact that it synced up very nicely with the bardcode scanner and automatically updated the database over the network once the scanner had been placed in it's docking station. This ultimately eliminated the need to constantly import scanned inventory because there was constant synchronization between the handheld scanner and Numara Track-it System. It would be nice if Kace was able to automatically sync…

Improve the process of linking purchased software licenses to the Software Catalog
Linking licenses to the software catalog in Kace is an excruciating process:
1. The description from the vendor and the name in the software catalog are never the same
2. The software catalog does not seem to provide the manufacturers part number
3. You can only link licenses to the catalog if the software has been discovered (used in inventory). This forces you to monitor each license and its first use to make sure that you link it. Only this way can you ensure that your licensing picture is correct.
4. You can only export the titles of the software…50 votes -

Express Code
As Dell Support now require Express code with their phone support it would be ideal to see if possible to get the Express code details for a machine and record this on KACE 1100.

K1000 blacklist should have a feature able to divided.
K1000 blacklist should have a feature able to divided.
K1000 cannot apply separated blacklists for Application Control to many devices.
An user want to configure both below:
1. block only 'appA' on devices labeled 'A'
2. block only 'appB' on devices labeled 'B'.
for 1, the user assigns one computer to a device label 'A' which has application control marked.
for 2, the user assigns other computer to a device label 'B' which has application control marked.
And user checks 'Not Allowed' on to 'appA' and 'appB'.
However both appA and appB will be blocked on 'A' devices and 'B'…41 votes -
Allow custom selection of criteria for duplicate machine detection algorithm
The duplicate machine detection alogirithm is not very good and is certainly NOT once-size-fits-all even though it attempts to be.
Different items are unique in different customers environments. please provide a way for us to choose which inventory fields drive what is a primary Key in our environment. ps. it would be BIOS Serial number for us, although i know that doesn't work for everyone.
Fortunately, this is true for our dell hardware

The ability to delete built-in asset subtypes.
New in v 9, they provide built-in subtypes for printers. We don't asset tag printers so we don't need those subtypes, but I'm not able to delete them or even edit them to remove the printer-specific fields to make it usable.

Software version search should be limited in one software title
Currently when creating a label targeting computers with software "abc" that has a version "ddd", K1000 searches "abc" in all software titles, and searches "ddd" in all software versions, which is fundamentally wrong, and may give unexpected false positive. It should only search "ddd" in the versions of the software with title "abc".

Display all "assigned to" assets in user record
Currently, if you go to a user's record, it will show all associated devices and "associated assets", but ONLY if you have added a custom field of "user" to the asset. There is the built-in field in assets of "assigned to", it would be nice to have the user record display anything that has their name in the "assigned to" field in an asset to eliminate the need to duplicate data.

Loaner Pool for checking out any Asset item
There should be a section for a "Loaner Pool" or some such, that shows all assets that are available to be checked out whether they are a laptop, projector, software license, tablet or any other item. Users should be able to access this section, see what is listed and which items are available or when they will become available.

Add 'Unassigned' as option in 'Assigned to' field in Computer Assets
Currently I can't set the 'Assigned to' field to 'Unassigned' after it has already been assigned to a user. In 6.x and older when you had a User field in assets, 'Unassigned' could be selected.
A couple of examples as to why this is necessary:
1) Often times computers will sit on a shelf to be used at a later date after a user gets a new machine. My asset manager needs to set that as 'Unassigned' until it's ready to be assigned to a new user.
2) A computer is assigned to a user but the user gets a…21 votes -
Reason for reboot on patching for Windows Server Shutdown Event Tracker
It would be excellent if the KACE Agent would log the reason for the reboot on Windows Server machines. Even if it just told the Shutdown event tracker that the KACE Agent rebooted, it would prevent the popup when I log into the server and would make my event log pretty. I believe this could be done very easily if the KACE agent calls shutdown.exe on the Windows machines.

Allow me to access inventory across organizations
We are an MSP and we use different orgs to keep track of inventory for our clients. for simplicity how ever we use a single "main" org for ticketing, so our techs dont have to jump back and forth between orgs to pull tickets. the issue is this prevents use form assigning a clients assets (computers and so on) to a ticket. It be great if we could access the assets in one org for a ticket in another.
19 votesIn the future, we will implement role based access controls that will allow you to group and grant access to objects logically within the root Org. This function will take several releases to fully implement but aspects will start appearing in the next release, 6.4
