The ability for the RSA to capture user states.283 votes
This work is underway and planned for our next release.
We would like to be able to netboot a Mac across subnets (we have 39 academic subnets on campus, out of about 107 total subnets) without having to issue a bless command on each Mac or having to have an RSA on each subnet. We have a 10.5 server running DeployStudio that handles this just fine, but I'd like to be able to use KBOX for all of our imaging (Windows imaging on KBOX is much nicer than using Ghost).276 votes
We are still planning on Mac OS X Server integration in a future release, to support this.
Image capture at remote sites via the Remote Site Appliance271 votes
This work was underway for our next release but has been moved to the subsequent release currently targeted within one quarter. A beta candidate program will be available
Customer running their environment on hyperV would appreciate running the RSA's on hyperv.228 votes
This will be available in our next release.
All the new machines that we purchase are capable of UEFI booting. We would like to move over to this but unfortunately at the moment the K2000 doesn't support UEFI.
Implementation of this support would be great.222 votes
This is slated for our next release. Two workarounds are available in the meantime.
You can install the KACE Pre-boot environment on remote systems using the K1000 so that it is not necessary to network (PXE) boot the system.
• Not for bare metal OS deployments
• Customer must have both K1000 and K2000
Kace Kontinuing Education (KKE) Video:
A boot environment can be placed on a USB drive and applied locally on the computer by booting to this USB drive.
• Must be initiated locally on each target system
It would be cool if I could change the install media out for my scripted installs w/o rebuilding each depolyment. When microsoft releases service packs ti would be handy to upload the new OS then replace the old version with the new.206 votes
This work was in consideration for our next release when other priorities pushed it out into the future. My apologies for previous response/status which should have said, “Planned”
There needs to be away to allow people permissions to certain part of the K2000 without having to give them admin rights to the entire box.162 votes
As the K1000 and K2000 become more intertwined, we’ll be integrating K1-style permissions in a future release.
It would be much appreciated if you could please provide built-in support for Ubuntu Desktop and Server distributions. Many organizations would benefit from this enhancement, and your place in my heart would be solidified.
Many thanks132 votes
Can voters please comment what form this could take? Is a Linux boot environment requireed? Is K-imaging support needed, or Scripted Installs? Would sector-based deployment from a Windows KBE work?
If i'm rebuilding a computer the Kbox should rename the computer correctly based on the information in the K1000. The old scripts are klunky. Maybe just a simple database/SOAP query to the K1000 for basic naming.115 votes
This is part of a long-term vision in the roadmap towards restoring a machine’s identity on the K1000 when rebuilt from the K2000, with incremental progress being made in each release.
Currently there is no way to edit wim images that has been captured by the kbox. the only way to do it is to use Post installation tasks. i'd like to directly mount it from the folder where the wim resides.109 votes
WIM Editing has been moved up the priority list. We encourage others to vote on this functionality so we can get it in a release soon.
It would be beneficial to be able to leverage the label feature in the K1 at time of system deployment.106 votes
Please allow the ability to customise the email sent from Charlie Root (K2000). At the moment it doesn't seem to be configurable. We want to change it's 'from' address, and the display name 'Charlie root' to something more meaningful. And make that email alert more configurable, like how often its sent, what to put in 'subject', etc.95 votes
Boot Camp support is something we’re looking at. Please give us an idea of how important it is to you.
Build a Remote Site Appliance VM that can run under Hyper-V88 votes
This work is underway for our next release. Upgrade to FreeBSD 10 was required as 7 did not support it. We are on target for next release.
Add Dell Diagnostics or memory testing to the KPE recovery options.74 votes
Great idea. Can folks also provide links to other vendors’ tools?
I just found out that you can not restore the K2000 database even though you can backup the K2000 database. I want to be able to have all my settings if there is a catastrophic failure with my server or just need to refresh the hardware. I have to recreate all my labels, users, Ldap authentication, all my general settings, date time settings, relink all of my RSAs and K1000.74 votes
Have the ability to change the BIOS depending upon what the machine will be used for.
ie Student WS: BIOS Password set, Boot to NIC first, Fast Boot on, WOL enabled, LowPowerS5 off, etc..74 votes
It would be very beneficial to have the K2000 be able to slipstream MS patches similar to nlite/RT7lite with all current patches. Right now a Windows 7 sp1 Scripted install has 170 patches pending from MS.
I see our K1000 as a maintainer of machines not an initial configuratior.68 votes
We’re looking at this after we get more K1000 synchronization built into the K2000.
I have more than 120 Remote Sites in my K2000 configured so i have massive problems with the bandwith settings. (The Remote Sites must Sync initially more than 50GB with ~32KB/s, this will take 6 days in permanent sync!)
The Bandwith can only be set to "average", is it possible to implement settings like in the K1000? Limitations for times the sync is active or inactive and/or limitations on daytime ( daytime less bandwidth and at night more).66 votes
As we start wrapping up development on K2000 3.6, we’re taking a good hard look at what we need to do with the RSA in 4.0, including bandwidth management. We’re currently evaluating several ways to accomplish this, up-to-and-including possibly utilizing K1000 replication.
We’d like to improve schedulling and automated tasks across the board on the K2000.
I’m not as enthusiastic about supporting user state migration to non-K2000 storage. The advantage of the K2000 is that everything’s centralized. We already have export of user state in 3.3. If the problem is not having enough native storage on the K2000, we’ve heard that loud and clear.
