It would be appreciated if the Debian support actually worked - it doesn't, seems the init script y'all are trying is bogus and provides dependency loop issues, screwing up people's machines. Get it right.

hi, i would like to have help i want to deploy ubuntu in my envirenment but when i test it there is a mistake which kind of command can i use on the prompt?
the prompt shows that : initramfs ..

I have no preference of what BE is needed- just as long as I can get to the KACE boot menu and select the image to layer down (in other words, Linux or Windows KBE are fine). Both K-Imaging and Scripted Installs would be icing but I'll settle for the former in the meantime if that makes it any easier.

How about y'all just copy CloneZilla's environment? I mean, you've copied Microsoft with the WIM deployment (just like SCCM).

I'm just saying, if you don't want to break copyright laws, then pull the same strings that you did with Microsoft. Until R/W access was revoked for the K2 folder structure, I was working on a custom KBE that booted to a Clonezilla Server. We (higher ed) run a couple of labs with 4 partitions: RHEL6, Windows, and OpenSuse - & the last partition is for GRUB. Now, we are currently using the network edition of CloneZilla to get this done.

I think full disk imaging will work for this or, once again, clone the imaging standards that CloneZilla uses to create a compressed image for deployment. Just my $0.02

It depends on how they want to roll this out. I think the win32 binary of dd works for this sort of thing; if it does, you can install Ubuntu on a dedicated imaging machine, create an image of it using dd then apply it using win32 dd from within the KBE.

They'll almost definitely need some sort of a script to prep modules and the like post-imaging.

Scripted installs would be ideal for my needs, but we are not customizing our linux installs much if at all.

A Linux boot environment can be a good start.
The perfection would be to support Kickstart scripted installation, since RHEL and Ubuntu support that.

We have 400 nodes and are moving them all from XP to Ubuntu this would mean that we would keep using the Kace platform as opposed to looking at other options.

We have 60 developers here that use Ubuntu. Currently we are using Puppet to image our Linux systems but it looks like that is going away.

It would be nice to be able to use our K2100 to do this.

We are currently installing the solution K2000 in our academic institution. All computers for formations (about 1500) are in dual boot Windows / Linux.
We would like Kace the solution may be the unique solution deployment.

Well, if you can find a driver for the Windows KBE that would cover mounting filesystems from Linux (EXT2/3/4, XFS, BtrFS, to name a few common ones), we could go with the Windows KBE. I don't think you're going to find that, so I'd say a Linux KBE is required. Please do this ASAP - I dumped Ghost for KACE, which I still think was a good move, but I really really need to be able to image Linux.

We have 150 Eee PC running Ubuntu more are planned. Support would be great.
