  1. Detect which "Source Media" and which KBE "Is actually in use"

In a bigger environment it happens that multiple administartors are creating KBEs and injecting Source media. After a while that gets messy and needs a cleanup, but Kace does not offer any option to easily identify which are in use and which are just left overs. There is a marker for "default" but that is all. Would be really helpful to see "used" or "unused" Source Media or KBE.

  2. Enable to "kill" a blocking sync task

We have been facing a lot of situations where the sync queue was hanging and therefore the whole appliance is useless as nothing can be done anymore. This always requires calling the support which causes workload for the support, the customer and wasting time, cause the only thing Support will do is kill the hanging process. If there would be a "button" to kill the "current hanging" task it would be beneficial.

Example: RSA replication hangs because of new version has been installed but no version check, if the "nightly sync" task hits that rsa the whole queue is stuck…

  3. Split task queues for replication

Please make the "nightly sync" queue run multiple RSAs in parallel, or at least adjustable. We are running 200 RSAs and if one of them for whatever reason is blocking delaying the sync the whole queue gets into a backlog. Then it is hard to get it synced without manually interacting and canceling and pushing multiple RSAs at once.

As it is possible to run multiple syncs manually triggered in parallel it should not be a big deal to also make that work for the build in queues.

Same applies at days when we need to inject new drivers intro…

  4. Ability to remove Images captured on an RSA from the main appliance

We can now upload to RSA's but have to get support to remove failed images.

  5. syslog

Provide an option to send syslogs to a server (like a SIEM). I see it is planned for the next major release of the SMA. Is the same feature schedule for SDA?

  6. Ability to import a CSV with MAC addresses to create automatic boot options for devices which were never booted

Right now it is nessesary to boot all devices once to have a network inventory to setup automated boot options.

    Better way would be:
Import a CSV with all MAC addresses of the newly delivered devices to create automated boot actions to fully automate the process.

  7. Add Samba shares to SDA

We have a SMA at our main site, and SDA's at each of our remote sites. It seems like it would be a natural solution to allow creation of Samba shares on our SDA's to act as replication shares for our SMA, but from what I understand, this is not supported by KACE.

  8. Ability to create package bundles

I currently have around 11 Task Sequences (Image Workflows) within MDT.
One of the features within MDT that I've been relying heavily upon to reduce overheard when making changes to workflows is using package references.
This allows me to create package bundles of items common to multiple images in a single location opposed to having to update each workflow.
This is especially useful when changes such as introducing new applications is done.

We primarily utilize a thin imaging workflow where most systems receive the same Wim containing Windows and MS Office + updates then package installation and configuration is done…

  9. Mount System Images as a Virtual Disk (VHD) for Editing

Whilst improving the access to images stored on the K2000, being able to actually access them as a mounted virtual disk (VHD) within Windows would be a huge improvement.

We have, in the past, used the K2000's automated rules to discreetly backup a user's machine overnight to ensure we don't lose data. Being able to mount that file as a VHD within Windows would enable us to treat it like any other disk and use K2000 as a unified backup/deployment solution.

Even if this is a case of having a location on the KBOX where we can manually select the…

  10. Direct editing of USMT XML files

In order to capture and deploy some of the custom data we have we need to modify the miguser and migapp xml files for the USMT tool. It would be nice to be able to edit this directly on the appliance.

  11. Custom Schedule to Export Packages

Could we have more options for the schedule export of packages? We are looking at schedules such like:
    A. on a monthly schedule i.e. the last day of the month or 15th of the month
    B. biweekly

I understand that the ability to create a custom schedule is available on the K1000.

    Thank you.

  12. KBE driver pack install

Have the KBE Driver packs available for install right from the appliance. Just click a button and then download and install.

  13. PC-to-PC Imaging

In a classroom/lab environment, it would be helpful to image a PC from perhaps the one next to it, instead of doing a "fresh" image. Another machine in the same classroom/lab would already have any running updates or changes made since the last image, without having to start from scratch.

  14. Delete USMT user state after successful deployment or on timer

Just paint this picture: 300+ Win 7 Clients are to be upgraded (scanstate, wipe+load, loadstate) to Win 10 using the SDA (and build in tasks). The list of possible user states to restore will be to long to click "Start Installation" after three or so upgrades.

Suggestion: Mark USMT user state as to be deleted after a successfull restore. On timer (once per night?) delete marked user states.
Possible plus: Add a checkbox to the USMT user state's details page: "Don't cleanup"

  15. Credentials Management

K1000 has a Credentials Vault, could we also add Credentials Management to the SDA k2000, so that scripts or other scripts don't have hard coded username and password in post install task.

Credentials Management or a password vault for Post and PRE task would be great.

    Thanks.

  16. NAS accessible through a Virtual K2000 appliance

It would be useful if there is the ability to connect a NAS to enable offboard storage when using a Virtual K2000 appliance. The option to add a virtual disk is not always viable due to enterprise storage and the costs involved with such storage

  17. Role-based access control (RBAC)

Regulate access to various functionality based on user roles and permissions. This would include granular access to capabilities such as:

    • Logon to KBE
    • Access to specific production images
    • Server/workstation roles
    • Samba share access
    • Differentiate between access to deploy images, and access to log into connected machines as an admin.

  18. Deployment-Wide, Deployer-Defined Variables

Would like the ability to create user-defined variables within a deployment definition (Scripted Installations, or System Images) that are valid for the entire process of deployment. These variables would be held by the K2000, not by the box being imaged.

    Example:
As a pre-install task, I could determine the BIOS version of the box being imaged, and store it in the variable FIRMWAREVER, and then at any point subsequent, in a later pre-install task, or a post-install task, I could call %FIRMWAREVER% and have that information. This way I don't have to store it on a temp RAM…

  19. Allow audit mode when creating an image

When doing a scripted image, it will be helpful to put that image into audit mode automatically so you can more changes to it before syspreping it again.

  20. MAC-Adressfilter for KACE PXE-Server

For rival pxe servers in the same subnet (e.g. Citrix Provisioning/KACE) there's a need to filter mac-adresses (exclude/include) for the clients/servers to point to the correct deployment system. In our former Altiris Deployment system there's an PXE-Option settiing for that.
