  1. Custom Schedule to Export Packages

Could we have more options for the schedule export of packages? We are looking at schedules such like:
    A. on a monthly schedule i.e. the last day of the month or 15th of the month
    B. biweekly

I understand that the ability to create a custom schedule is available on the K1000.

    Thank you.

  2. Add a widget on Dashboard to show whether scheduled sync to RSA(s) failed or was successful.

Add a widget on Dashboard to show whether scheduled sync to RSA(s) failed or was successful, maybe have a widget to show the status of all scheduled operations. Would be nice to know if something failed without having to wade through logs or submenus.

  3. PXE Boot supporting 802.1x authentication

It appears PXE 3.0 is capable of supporting 802.1x authentication.
Many networks utilize radius authentication to control users and VLANs. This is an issue with the current K2000 PXE since there is no option to provide credentials. I suggest an option be added to insert a username and password into the undionly.kpxe and ipxe.efi so that PXE Boot can authenticate.

  4. Delete USMT user state after successful deployment or on timer

Just paint this picture: 300+ Win 7 Clients are to be upgraded (scanstate, wipe+load, loadstate) to Win 10 using the SDA (and build in tasks). The list of possible user states to restore will be to long to click "Start Installation" after three or so upgrades.

Suggestion: Mark USMT user state as to be deleted after a successfull restore. On timer (once per night?) delete marked user states.
Possible plus: Add a checkbox to the USMT user state's details page: "Don't cleanup"

  5. Credentials Management

K1000 has a Credentials Vault, could we also add Credentials Management to the SDA k2000, so that scripts or other scripts don't have hard coded username and password in post install task.

Credentials Management or a password vault for Post and PRE task would be great.

    Thanks.

  6. Role-based access control (RBAC)

Regulate access to various functionality based on user roles and permissions. This would include granular access to capabilities such as:

    • Logon to KBE
    • Access to specific production images
    • Server/workstation roles
    • Samba share access
    • Differentiate between access to deploy images, and access to log into connected machines as an admin.

  7. Deployment-Wide, Deployer-Defined Variables

Would like the ability to create user-defined variables within a deployment definition (Scripted Installations, or System Images) that are valid for the entire process of deployment. These variables would be held by the K2000, not by the box being imaged.

    Example:
As a pre-install task, I could determine the BIOS version of the box being imaged, and store it in the variable FIRMWAREVER, and then at any point subsequent, in a later pre-install task, or a post-install task, I could call %FIRMWAREVER% and have that information. This way I don't have to store it on a temp RAM…

  8. Allow audit mode when creating an image

When doing a scripted image, it will be helpful to put that image into audit mode automatically so you can more changes to it before syspreping it again.

  9. Sort filters

I think the K2000 lists should all have configurable sort options. I organize my deployments by name, so I would like to see this breakdown of the images almost every time. I keep having to select to sort by name. I think the system should either have a memory or allow a default to be stored.

The following are example fields that should be sortable:
    - Deployments
    - Install tasks
    - Inventory dropdown menu

  10. Allow option to choose which driver feed models to sync to RSA instead of all drivers downloaded on K2

Allow user to either choose to sync all driver feed items from the K2000 appliance or instead not sync those files and make the Remote Site Appliance Driver Feed available to choose specific models to download drivers to the RSA.

  11. Multicast an image with multiple partitions

It would be great if it were possible to multicast to a hard drive with multiple partitions. In imaging our dual-boot computer labs we have to unicast the image which takes longer and uses more bandwidth. According to Dell it's a "software defect K2-5393", which In my opinion should be fixed.

  12. Replication window for RSAs

Some of our sites are on low bandwidth data connections. Trying to sync multiple RSAs takes days as the syncs do not happen concurrently. As these tasks queue up, I am unable to do other K2000 tasks, such as driver feed updates, upload images, or recaching of drivers. If we could have a window for replication similar to the K1000 replication to network shares, this would improve efficiency in our environment and ensure our RSAs are more up-to-date.

  13. Peer to peer deployment

It could be useful when the network configuration is not multicast compliant to use a peer-to-peer protocol (bitorrent) to deploy images.

Thank you for your suggestion. This has been added to the feature request list. We encourage others to vote as we use this input for prioritizing our release plans.

  14. Increase frequency of updates to the KBE Driver Packs and notification when KBE's have been updated

When new Dell workstations are purchased, I have to download the drivers from the Dell website because the NIC or Storage drivers aren't compatible with new Dell hardware.

I'd like for the KBE's to be a step ahead (or at least even) with the release of new hardware.

Also, I'd like notification that a new KBE driver pack is available. A date on the Dell KBE download page would be an improvement. There is nothing now.

Note that the date does appear on the download page now. But this has been added to the feature request list. We encourage others to vote as we use this input for prioritizing our release plans.

  15. Dynamic updating of K1000 labels in K2000

The K2000 can pull inventory lists from K1000 labels for automated deployments, but those lists are static. If the label group changes on the K1000, the group does not update on the K2000.

For example, if I had a group of systems I want to re-image on a weekly basis. If one of the computers is replaced, the automated deployment must be rebuilt.

Can the K2000 re-sync label members on the fly or even on a schedule?

  16. modifying task que list

I came across a customer where rsa updates had hung for about a week, after we rebooted the task que had a few hundred tasks to do. For all the rsa's I had to enter each rsa to cancel the update manually, and that did take a lot of time. If we could get access to the task que directly we could have marked all the items we didn't want to do at the moment, and deleted them from the que in one operation.

  17. Prompt for Post install tasks during image processing

It would be nice to have the ability to get a prompt to come up and ask what other post install tasks need to run during the image process.

Use case: when a machine gets an image deployed, and on certain machines have a prompt come up and have any additional tasks be checked off to run after the OS is installed.

  18. Start post install tasks manually on a client for testing purposes

It would be great to have an option to start the post install Task process on a test Client that has already the OS installed, so you don't have to run a full scripted install every time you want to test a postinstallation Task.

Thank you for your suggestion. I have put this in our product feature backlog. Please vote for this feature if you are interested so we can move it up the priority list. If a workaround is discovered, it will be posted here.

  19. Improved RSA Administration

With 100's of RSAs deployed, changes to the configuration of a single typically results in hours of work--login to RSA, change configuration, rinse/repeat.

Ideally, I'd like one or more administrative templates that would allow me to control common settings (e.g., proxy, authentication, admin password, NTP, etc.)

I'd also like to script the reboot of a remote site appliance (think quarterly maintenance reboots). Currently, this process is administratively cumbersome even when performing reboots of each RSA (guest) via vCenter.

  20. Deploy Windows Updates automatically after postinstallation tasks

It would be nice if the K2000 would also manage Windows Updates (like the K1000) to deploy them automatically as postinstallation Task.
