  2. Loading bar of image deployment on target device

On Targert device add a loading bar to check the in order to see where the image is deployed, the technician deploying the image may not be able to see the web interface of the appliance to check the progress status.

    For exemple : 0% ----------------- to 100 %
just displays the percentage to copy from the image for example.

  3. Auto PXE boot devices

Coming from WDS, there was an ability to respond to all devices, known or unknown, with different PXE boot policies:

    Require users interaction pressing F12
    ALWAYS CONTINUE PXE BOOT
Continue to PXE unless user presses ESC
    Never PXE boot

I could then limit the response to a specific subnet/IP range. And because of it's rather reasonable price, I could easily spin up different WDS servers in different networks. I would really like to see the same with the K2.

In my own environment, when unboxing new equipment, we have a designated VLAN for staging and imaging devices. It would be…

Thank you for this feature request!

It would be interesting to see how this idea plays out not just for the SDA but for any connected RSAs as well. You’re correct with the risk assessment, and we’ll need to incorporate that into our discussions as we review this.

  4. Get KUID from the SMA for an existing machine

Have a pre-install task that will allow you to select an existing device from the SMA to apply the KUID as a post install task. When imaging an existing device with a new HDD/SSD the SDA has no KUID to grab so when the agent is installed it thinks the device is a new device. This causes an issue of having multiple assets that should be the same device asset.

Thank you for this feature request!

It sounds like some additional review is needed in the product’s capacity after the SMA/SDA are linked. We will review this request and determine its place within our product backlog.

  5. Show estimated time for WIM to be copied from host

I upgraded from version 5 to 7.1.94 this week and imaged for the first time and was surprised and dismayed at the same time. I like the image progression bar addition but before you had an estimated time that it would take for the wim file to be copied from the host. I know roughly how long it takes from imaging many different PC's. The image progression bar sits a 0% the entire time that the wim is copying from the host. having a timer or another progression bar showing the progression/time remaining for copying the wim would be immensely…

  6. Option to not auto-select all profiles for migration on manual deployments and ability to auto-cleanup scanstates on server after X days.

We have been having storage capacity and clutter issues with USMT scan states uploaded to our K2000. 90% of these have been migrated because the K2000 selects all profiles for migration by default and my peers will quite often zip through this without de-selecting profiles not needed. This will result in a lot of garbage data being captured as well as create duplicate local user accounts and profiles. This can form in to a very long list that takes up a lot of space that we have to manually clean up on each of our RSA(s).

    Would it be possible…

  7. enable / disable a post install task from executing

if one has the same post install task in 10 scripted images, be able to enable / disable them all at once. for example, a new post install task needs to be created; however, the implementation date is unknown. I can add the task to the 10 scripted images - at my leisure, then when i need to enable the task - it is one click. Be able to enable / disable a task from executing

Thank you for this feature request!

It’s interesting to consider the prospect of viewing the details of a PO task and seeing all the deployments to which it’s linked. With that view available, one could execute an action en masse rather than individually.

We will review this request and determine its place within our product backlog.

  8. Driver Feed - automate install into appliance of models in inventory

You guys have an inventory of device "model" for network booted devices. It would be great if there was an option where this information could be used to automatically enable/install Dell Driver Feed drivers into the SDA. With options of drivers for which OS (i.e. I only want windows 10 x64 drivers), and some kind of threshold option (like maybe 3 same model in inventory before auto enabled/installed).

Inversely maybe an additional option to delete drivers when there are 0 of the model/s in the SDA inventory (maybe in a specified period).

Thank you for these feature requests!

These sound very interesting. The retention concept for drivers that aren’t needed sounds great.
We will review these further and determine their place within our product backlog.

  9. Ability for sysprep creator to run custom powershell files before sysprepping or select custom unattend answer file.

I Like the Sysprep Executor utility as it's fairly intuitive and user friendly when it's being ran prior to a capture, it however has a few barriers preventing me from using it.

    • Custom Unattend answer file.

I have a few answer files created manually in WSIM as use a few settings that are not available in the Sysprep Creator menu, would it be possible to add an option to sysprep creator to select an unattend XML file instead of generating one via the menu options?

    • Support for custom .bat,.cmd or .ps1 files prior to capture.

    I have a script that…

  10. Can we include a delayed reboot option?

During post installation tasks processing even after a successful completion we may need delay before Kace engine reboots the computer especially if its the last task.

For instance, I have a .bat file that pulls an installation from the internet the Kace appliance will move onto the next task or reboot before it finishes.

Adding a timeout /t 30 will not delay the reboot.

  11. Validity tool for the SSL certificate that has been enabled on SDA (K2000)

There should be a troubleshooting tool on the WebUI to check the validity (expiration date, CA, intermediate CA authority) of the certificate that has been installed.

    Stay tuned!

  12. Please add the ability when importing packages to be able to upload a zip directly without have to extract it first.

Currently, you have to extract a pkg or xml file from a zip before uploading then importing a new package. The SDA should be smart enough to find the pkg file within the zip without the need to extract the file manually first.

  13. PXE Boot supporting 802.1x authentication

It appears PXE 3.0 is capable of supporting 802.1x authentication.
Many networks utilize radius authentication to control users and VLANs. This is an issue with the current K2000 PXE since there is no option to provide credentials. I suggest an option be added to insert a username and password into the undionly.kpxe and ipxe.efi so that PXE Boot can authenticate.

  14. Role-based access control (RBAC)

Regulate access to various functionality based on user roles and permissions. This would include granular access to capabilities such as:

    • Logon to KBE
    • Access to specific production images
    • Server/workstation roles
    • Samba share access
    • Differentiate between access to deploy images, and access to log into connected machines as an admin.

  15. K2000 bandwidth settings: Change the units for the Transfer Rate Limit from KB/s to Kbps.

Currently the "Limit average transfer rate to" setting uses Kilobytes per second and this should be set to Kilobits per second instead to be more inline with network throttling standards.

  16. Replication window for RSAs

Some of our sites are on low bandwidth data connections. Trying to sync multiple RSAs takes days as the syncs do not happen concurrently. As these tasks queue up, I am unable to do other K2000 tasks, such as driver feed updates, upload images, or recaching of drivers. If we could have a window for replication similar to the K1000 replication to network shares, this would improve efficiency in our environment and ensure our RSAs are more up-to-date.

  17. Peer to peer deployment

It could be useful when the network configuration is not multicast compliant to use a peer-to-peer protocol (bitorrent) to deploy images.

Thank you for your suggestion. This has been added to the feature request list. We encourage others to vote as we use this input for prioritizing our release plans.

  18. Increase frequency of updates to the KBE Driver Packs and notification when KBE's have been updated

When new Dell workstations are purchased, I have to download the drivers from the Dell website because the NIC or Storage drivers aren't compatible with new Dell hardware.

I'd like for the KBE's to be a step ahead (or at least even) with the release of new hardware.

Also, I'd like notification that a new KBE driver pack is available. A date on the Dell KBE download page would be an improvement. There is nothing now.

  19. 2 Factor authentication

Would be nice to have a 2 factor authentication , as the kace 1000 and 2000 contains important information and detailed inventory

  20. Start post install tasks manually on a client for testing purposes

It would be great to have an option to start the post install Task process on a test Client that has already the OS installed, so you don't have to run a full scripted install every time you want to test a postinstallation Task.
