1. Be able to control User Configuration Profiles programmatically with an API

   We would like to be able to control (User) Profiles in Desktop Authority with an API, for example REST API. With User Profiles we are refereeing to the Profiles that are located in Desktop Authority under Client Configuration.

   We would really want this feature because we have approximately 70 User Profiles spread across multiple Desktop Authory installations / Active Directory domains.

   Use cases:
   • Create a User Profile for a new customer
   • List all User Profiles elements (we have User Profiles with settings that are applicable for multiple customers, that need to be identical across multiple domains and this now very challenging. With an API with could use PowerShell to compare User Profiles)
   • List all the Application Launchers for every User Profile
   • Create a new Registry element inside an existing User Profile.
   • Update the ‘One Time (User)’ UID for one or more Application Launchers
   • List all the shortcuts that belong to a specific User Profile.

2. DA web interface refresh and number of items

   In the Client Configuration, User, MyProfile, Drive Mappings I have well over 50 items. While looking through them I am constantly frustrated by the page refreshing and going back to the top. I like the product, but hate the web UI. I would like it if it did not refresh automatically or if it remembered where I was when it refreshes.
   The default number of items to show in Drive Mappings is 50. Every time I log into the DA web interface I have to enter 99 in order to be able to scroll through my items. Again, I like the product, but hate the web UI. I would like the system to remember my viewing settings/preferences.

3. Configure default applications in Windows 10

   Currently it is only possible to configure default applications (Browser, Mail, PDF viewer) in Windows 10 by using Group Policy Templates and Windows' DISM tool to generate an XML file that can be pushed using File Operations. There should be an easier feaure included to configure default applications for certain scenarios.

4. Update documentation and examples

   Much of the documentation and examples for things like Dynamic Variables are really outdated. For example, here is the documentation and examples given for a couple variables:

   $OsType
   Operating System type:
   95 - Windows 95
   98 - Windows 98
   NT - All versions of NT/2000
   
   $ProfileDirAU **This one isn't in the documentation
   Full path of the "All Users" profile
   "C:\WinNT\Profiles\All Users"
   "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users"
   

   Consider that there is a generation of support personnel that didn't use computers with the above operation systems or folder paths. I have to stop and thing about it for a second for some of the variables to make sure I'm using the correct one for Windows 10. Some variables, I can't even tell if they are available such as one for ProgramData.

   Much of the documentation and examples for things like Dynamic Variables are really outdated. For example, here is the documentation and examples given for a couple variables:

6. Task Scheduler

   Though not very often, there are times that a task needs to be scheduled on every computer. In Windows 10, there are many scheduled tasks that I like to remove or disable.

   I would like to see a Task Scheduler section in DA that allows for the configuration of a new schedule or deletion of another. This would need the ability to also create/edit sub-folders in the Task Scheduler.

7. View pending changes before replication

   It would be very beneficial to view what changes are pending replication be fore actually replicating. When more than one admin has access to make changes, they can see if another admin has been changes and verify that it is safe to replicate the changes in their current state.

9. Integrate File Operations with off network support in AWS & Azure

   Off network support was great idea taken half way, we really need this integration to go all the way and support file operations. This will really set Desktop Authority free and support the 1000s of business who now find themselves with home workers and no immediate return to the office plan.

   Having the ability to do simple things like deliver files, templates and much more advanced file routines to remote user needs to be a top priority.

10. email signature plain text conversion

    I am using the Outlook element to set corporate email signatures in HTML format. It works well. However, when replying to a plain text email, then no signature gets displayed at all. At the very least, it should change the signature from HTML to plain text, but it doesn't. Or, it would be nice if we can force all replies to HTML, regardless of the format of the original email?

    If you would like to see a plain text conversion added to Desktop Authority you can submit the request to our User Voice forum and it will be reviewed by the Product Manager.

11. Consolidated Profile History

    In each Profile, there is an option to view the change history. I would like to see this ability added to the parent Profile section to view a consolidated history of all changes made to all sub-profiles.

12. Web UI navigation makes administration slow and painful

    I was a huge fan of Desktop Authority when it ran as an application UI, before it became a web UI. The Web UI is so slow to refresh and make changes that it has more than doubled the time necessary to complete tasks that used to be instantaneous in the application UI. Creating, deploying, administering Printers for large organizations used to be a huge advantage and very organized in the old UI. Now, one must forward through endless screens and wait for slow refresh times to add, remove, copy, paste or reorder printer elements. A Task that used to take 5 minutes can now easily take 30 minutes. For small companies, it is not to bad, but larger companies with dozens or hundreds of elements created in various categories, a once efficient task is now unbearable. I used to push this application to every I.T. associate I knew. Now I don't even want to use it myself and have begun using Group Policy more an more to try and phase this application out of use at our customers.

14. Dashboard or Central Area for SLTrace Errors Only

    Would like the ability to have a single collection point of only errors from all SLTrace.html files from all clients in one section of the application. Being able to see just the errors from all systems in one location would greatly improve issue resolution times. it would also enable us to see if an admin made a misconfiguration more quickly. having this type of data in one searchable location would be so much more useful. it would allow us to be more proactive than reactive. Details such as Computername, Elelement that failed, Details of Error. Username

15. Disable Weak Ciphers/Protocols in Expert Assist

    We need the ability to disable the use Weak/Outdated ciphers. We have disabled 3DES, TLS 1.0 and 1.1 on all of our windows systems, however TLS 1.0, TLS 1.1 and 3DES still appear on our security scans on port 2000. EA is NOT utilizing the security configuration that the Windows system is configured for. For example TLSRSAWITHNULLSHA256 is showing as an active cipher on port 2000 when that cipher is disabled on the windows system. Please provide a method to select what ciphers EA will use.

16. Responsive Website and Dynamic Loading

    We all should be clear the Desktop Authority Console is due for a major refresh and not that little kick that happened to Archive Manager this needs a Major.

    First in particular I find often times entry boxes are to small and get mangled when entering multiple large items into setting boxes. particular GPO with multiple line items.

    Second that huge bold black bar at the top of the page is ridiculous. It eats up 1/8 of my total screen just to put your logo on it. Time for this to go.

    Third Really unless you have 1000s of items in Desktop Authority under each of the profile items I should never need to click on a second page. One area I run into this is the add/remove admx files I have (241) and its just bad trying to navigate between them. Also checkboxes would be great. The whole click/multi select here is unreliable.

    Fourth its 2018 fixed with webpages were dead in 2010.

17. Expert Assist Power Options

    In the Menu, under Computer Management, is a Reboot option that allows for restarting EA and various options for restarting the computer (Normal, Emergency, Hard, and Scheduled).
    I would like to see options to shut the computer down and log a user off.

18. Global Expert Assist repository/settings

    There needs to be some sort of way to configure settings and resources for Expert Assist globally. It's nice that there is a way to change the color scheme/theme for interface, create new scripts, configure SMTP settings, and setup system monitoring but, currently, this has to be done on each and every individual computer.

    If not a global repository, at least build out the Remote Management User Profile to include those settings and files. Then, when publishing the changed files, DA can sync those files and settings to the machines.

19. Enhance validation logic to allow 'and' and 'or'

    Currently there is no easy way to mix "and's" and "ors", yet a typical validation logic for us is something like "if the computer is in room 1 or 2 or 3 and the file does not exist, then install"

    If there was a way to nest the ands and or's or logically group them it would make life easier (currently we have to do either a rule for each room (i.e. if room1 and file does not exist, if room 2 and file does not exist, etc.) or we have to nest them (i.e. outer element is "if room 1 or 2 or 3) and inner element is "if feile does not exist)

20. allow drive mapping with certain user credentials

    It should be possible to pass certain user credentials for mapping a network drive. As written in this kb article (https://support.quest.com/de-de/kace-desktop-authority/kb/106951/is-it-possible-to-pass-credentials-when-mapping-drives?kblang=en-US) this is not possible. Also other options (like mapping without drive letter) might be useful.
