We now have a BarKode app that will scan the barcode label on any asset and upload the data directly into the K1000. We also have a sticker manufacturer that will print any value on a barcode asset label. Asset management best practice would suggest that the Asset Name match the Service TAG so the virtual matches the physical. So just provide a list of your service tags to the label maker, get the barcodes printed, then use our App to manage all of your Assets.

I would agree, there are occasions where it is more appropriate to have a field "Name" other than "Name", for example for a Mobile Phone to call the field "IMEI" makes sense as a primary key, so just the ability to call the Primary key field on an asset anything other than name would be helpful
