We've just done a major exercise in mapping out all our asset locations. The easy part was going around recording everything, the biggest headache was updating the assets in KACE. A bulk feature would be really good and make like a lot easier.

This would also be very useful for us that have a similar situation. Though what gets me is why when we set the updates going automatically on a sunday morning at 04:30 some over run and are still going on a Monday morning at 09:00!!

This would be a very good idea if it could be implemented. I have several technicians using the ServiceDesk but they each have a separate view of what tickets they see. So we've missed a few jobs that for some reason fall through the cracks. One is "waiting on response" because they were all using customised views that never took this "view" into account.

What I would like to do is to create a customised view that covers all new, open, re-opened, awaiting response etc and then set that as the default view for all my technicians.

But at the moment I can't do that.

I agree. The Security Updates gives some indication of the progress, status etc. There is nothing similar for the Dell updates. Also when you go to Patch Management > Patch Schedules you get a table showing all of the patch schedules, the success rates, fails etc. This is very useful to get an overview but there is nothing similar for the Dell updates.

We are currently going through our systems with a fine toothed comb looking for security issues and this is something that has flagged up.

Very useful from our point of view as this would then feed directly into a range of other dates/task etc that are automatically populated into our Outlook calendars.

Another extremely useful feature. We use a number of different systems to cover all the various monitoring we need to do. Imagine having it all in a single place!

Oh well, enough dreaming I'm just back to trawling through X number of open screens to find the next thing to troubleshoot!!

We are investigating options for expanding iDrac support (including adding SNMP trap support). We encourage others to vote as we use this input for prioritizing our release plans.

    Mark H commented  ·

This would be quite a useful feature for us as all of our Dell servers come with the iDrac Enterprise cards.

Another area that needs improvement! We've been using KACE for over a year. As pointed out in the other comments there is no real standard way of doing things. Each "expert" has their own opinion or method and there is no way of knowing which way is best to start with, or to try out. We spent a lot of time experimenting, and while making mistakes is a good way of learning it seems that every user of KACE has to make mistakes to make progress!!

Some sort of manual / best practice guide would be good.

Also have everything in one place would be advantageous too. A lot of information is out there but it is spread across many different formats/locations etc and its time consuming to find the relevant bit of information.

Useful. At the moment asset labels are copied and pasted into a separate app and then printed out. Doing this from within KACE would be quicker. Also incorporating barcodes would be good too.

This is becoming an issue for us. I have all my Dells switching on a 04:00 on a Sunday morning to run the updates. I'm finding that at on Monday morning some updates are still running. Of course the reboots then causes the users no end of issues and I get it in the neck. If this can be sorted it would be appreciated.

I still have to use Windows Update Server to roll out some MS patching because its quicker. So I've two systems to look at rather than just concentrating on KACE.

This is something else that we are finding with KACE that would be nice to change. Changing "name" to something a little more appropriate for the asset type would be useful given the many varied types we are creating.

We've only been running KACE for about 6 months and we've already come up against this problem. We've populated a number of labels with the required PCs and regularly run updates against these labels, but we do find instances where we do need to exclude particular ones on an ad hoc basis. The ability to exclude a PC as and when needed, rather than editing the label each time would be very useful.

This is a major problem for us and one that is causing headaches! All our online systems have corporate colours/ branding except KACE! I'm constantly being challenged by users as to why its "blue" and why did I spend so much on something that isn't customisable (forget about all the great stuff under the bonnet - they aren't interested!!!) If this can be reviewed and planned sooner rather than later that would be great!
